Info: Anyone interested in a pan & scan transfer of the sw trilogy SE?

Hi, I know this might end up with a lot of criticism because:
1. This is the SE, and
2. This is the Pan & Scan version.
Now, I’m only doing this for one reason: personal preservation. My VHS copies of it are dying, ROTJ has a line in the center of the picture and ANH has a few audio dropouts where it goes from hi-fi to lower. Being the version I grew up with, of course, I want to save them on DVD. I am only asking this because I thought at least a few people would be interested in it.
Let me know if you are, because to my knowledge this transfer would be legal.

I would.

I don't have a VCR anymore and I own this set legally (shrinkwrapped!)

there already is a pan and scan special edition preservation Dark Jedi and Boba Feta did years ago i think.

dark jedi did a preservation of the 1995 one last time pan and scan trilogy aka faces. which happens to be my favorite pan and scan since transfer

There goes my internet fame, rofl. I'll still make them for personal use though.

That's 1995, this is 1997.

I have an AVI of the 1995 VHS a friend ripped for me and I might get him to rip ESB/ROTJ too. I'd like to find a pre-1993 FS though, it's what I grew up with first (and then the SE)

Well, the question is this: *IS* there a transfer of the original SE from 1997 or not?
If so, please disregard this thread.

We did do a version of the SE, it was Widescreen however and DJ did do a FS set but I don't believe it was the SE.

They were done by Dark Jedi from the 1997 release of the Special Edition VHS NTSC tapes.

Can these be downloaded? I have the 97 special editions legitimatly on VHS, and I own the 2004 DVD set, but I would love to have a DVD transfer of the 97 set. I don't want these pif'ed to me so if these aren't downloadable I guess I will do without.

Are we talking about a Laserdisc transfer?
Is the telecine/transfer better than for the LD version of the O-OT?

If those are the case, then I think there is one element that would be of much interest to those making preservation efforts of the O-OT: Sebastian Shaw's ghost in ROTJ at the best image quality possible. Am I right?
