I've never heard of "American President" or "Dave"...
Why could Serenity be seen as conservative lordjedi? And do you think of X-men as conservative? I'm having a hard time comparing movies to political views. I never watch them in that way, searching for a political message. Especially sci-fi. Although Equilibrium got me thinking about government control a bit.

Others have explained why I think Serenity is conservative. Government interference with private citizens and all that. Ultimate control to achieve peace which ultimately backfires. Yadda, yadda, yadda.

But it also has the leave them alone and let them live their lives thing going for it. I think the problem with X-Men is that the government is trying to tell everyone that they can use their powers for evil.

Like the Patriot act?

The Patriot Act did nothing but spell out what could and was already done in certain circumstances. Try reading it sometime and then look at what was done before it. Nothing in the Patriot Act was new. And if you still don't like it, remember that only 1 Senator had the guts to vote no on it. So everyone in DC is at fault as far as I'm concerned.
