Why could Serenity be seen as conservative lordjedi? And do you think of X-men as conservative? I'm having a hard time comparing movies to political views. I never watch them in that way, searching for a political message. Especially sci-fi. Although Equilibrium got me thinking about government control a bit.

Others have explained why I think Serenity is conservative. Government interference with private citizens and all that. Ultimate control to achieve peace which ultimately backfires. Yadda, yadda, yadda.

X-Men I'm not sure about. It has the whole segregation vs integration going for it. But it also has the leave them alone and let them live their lives thing going for it. I think the problem with X-Men is that the government is trying to tell everyone that they can use their powers for evil. But anything can really be used for evil. If you're a hammer, everything's a nail. I think X-Men is more about racism than liberal or conservative. There are racists on both sides of the aisle.
