Not seen these.

Pearl Harbor
Independance Day

Pearl Harbor is pretty much neutral. It's just a love story set in the context of that War.

Independence Day has some conservative themes (fight to kill your enemies, don't show them kindness once they've proven hostile) and some traditionally liberal ones (the idea that America needs its enemies to help fight the alien threat, for example). Overall I'd say it's more patriotic than overtly political.

I remember people commenting on this one when it was theaters that people cheered when the White House was blown up, but they also cheered when the aliens were defeated, kind of reflected the attitude of the people then. They were aggravated with the President, but still proud of their country.

You know, Clinton was in office at the time. The fact that people cheered then is both ammusing yet someone frightening to me.

But yeah, most Americans are proud of their country. It's the far-left nutjobs like Rosie O. Donnel and the far right religious fanataics like Fred Phelps that are ashamed of America.

The difference is that Phelps is a marginalized nobody who gets off to protesting at the funerals of Amish children and American soldiers while Rosie O. Donnel has a forum on a nationally syndicated and popular TV show.
