The intent of these was to take the front and back of the lunch boxes and make DVD covers out of them. That's done. Nothing else was needed, other than the scans. Once you have nice scans, anyone could have done it sure, but it was the fact that he made the effort to do so. Throw extra words on there and you detract from the art. Do these need to be used as a DVD cover? No. But Coov made them into covers.
What could he have done to be less "lazy" while still meeting his original intentions?
