Well, I'd imagine that all sorts of people are interested in Garret's work, including people who worked on the film and animation students as well as people who found out about it online.

Why can't Garrett post here? Is he banned or something?
Author
Time
Yes, he is. He was banned several months ago for some absurd reason relating to another discussion on this forum.

Leaving aside the legitimacy of Garret's banning for the moment (please let's not go there - the admins did as they thought it best and we'll leave it at that), I think both sides can agree that this is one preservation project to which his presence has been integral.

I don't think we should close this thread, but I agree that we should encourage everyone to move over there, so that the bulk of the discussion moves there. We can keep this thread open in case there are any major announcements. You know, maybe future members of this board will be interested - if we close the thread, we move this project to a much less visible place on the internet.

So from now on, I'll have the link to that thread in my signature so that any newcomers will see it. Perhaps everyone else should do the same.

I saw "300" today, and there were a couple scenes that reminded me of TT&TC.

Where were you in '77?

Hmm, something odd's going on. I created a new account on Garret's forum, but I'm "not allowed" to reply to any topics.

EDIT: Hmm, never mind. Either the problem was fixed or I didn't log in the first time. I thought I did, but meh.
EDIT2: Ok, Garret fixed the problem apparently.

Hi. I've been searching all over the interwebs and I can't find anything on how or where to purchase this DVD. If this is the same version as the video on Google Videos, I am greatly interested in getting it. If you would be so kind as to e-mail me explaining how I could buy it?

My e-mail is Tack_the_Cobbler24@yahoo.com. Thank you.

If anyone asks you for money for any disc, not just this one, they are ripping you off. Be careful.

Personally, I have no problem helping drop a few bucks on this transfer, as long as that Guarantees me a copy of the final product in dvd and whatever other format it's done to at NO ADDITIONAL COST. I'll happily send $20-$40 as long as I get my copies of the resulting product for free.

And here I didn't wanna sign up for yet another forum....dammit.....

You can find it at mininova.org, as well (search for the keywords: thief cobbler). Downloading is the preffered method, unless you simply must have it sent on DVD for one reason or another. If you want to donate to Garret for his work (which seems to be what you're saying), I assume you're free to do that - just as long as it's clear you understand that you're under no pressure to do so, since the Recobbled Cut is available for free online.

For any further possible news about Cobbler material, details can be found in the link in my signature (you should also go there if you want to find Garret, since he can't post on this forum).

ESN- yea, I was meaning on the new transfer that hasn't happened yet off this "2nd workprint" or whatever it's labeled now. That I will donate to, as opposed to other things sometimes discussed in this thread (NOT going there atm).

Like I said, I'll help the new as-of-yet-done transfer as long as what I donate promises me copies of the final thing.

I think Garret's plan was always to make any Cobbler stuff gathered by him freely available to everyone in some fashion or other, whether they donated or not. Everything put together would be a rather big file to download, of course...

As a fan of the Recobbled Cut, if this "2nd workprint" does get released I'll donate a few dollars to it and freely distribute.

I'll also happily donate towards this 2nd workprint in higher quality.

No more discussion of the print anywhere. My contact says so.

Please edit out all mentions of it from posts. (Only these last two pages.)

Well, a few people still need to edit their posts...

And TServo, you may want to remove that word from your last post.

I've been watching this today, and say what you will about the author, but this is a fine piece of restored animation he gave us.

*crash lands* I'm so glad I found this forum.

Hi. My name is Bec. I was born in Queesland, Australia in 1989, to a dad who had been managing a video store for 2 years. I was about five years old when I watched the Princess and the Cobbler for the first time, on a preview tape that still had a time code stamped to the bottom. That was 15 years ago, and I am only now learning about the sorry history of my beloved childhood film.

Every time I talk about it, the only people who still remember it are my younger sister and our parents, who now own the same video store they worked in when I was born. We're all film fanatics, the four of us. My sister and I are heavilly obsessed with this film, and the tragedy surrounding it.

If you've never seen the Australian cut, it's well worth the watch. I've yet to see any other version, but it's still so lovely. But there are so many mysteries surrounding the release here in Australia, and i have two major questions I'm seeking to answer. Firstly, I want to know more about Majestic Films International, the distribution company that now seems to have dissolved into obscurity. I know literally nothing about them. But the thing I want to know most is why this version, of all versions, made its way to Australian shores. Why was I so lucky that I managed to fall in love with this wonderful film, in one of its purer forms available to me at the time.

Will be keeping my ear to the ground. :)
