It's as the gang are being led by Lando to their surprise confrontation with Vader. They walk down some steps which (since the SE) have a large window behind them - you can see an elevator travelling up the outside of the building through them.

But, when they reach the door and Vader appears, shots of the gang and the stormtroopers behind them don't show the window - just the art-deco style pre-SE wall. It eluded me for a long time because it almost seems like they take a 90 degree turn before the door, but they don't.

Thanks for clearing that up, DE. I just never paid attention to it.

adywan;
any plans to remove ejected shell casings from frames where blaster rifles/pistols are firing? A good example of that is during the chasm shoot out when Liea is given the rifle and fires at the troopers... notice to the left of the gun on her 2nd, 3rd & 4th shots... oh my. And immediatly after Luke and Liea swing across the chasm the 2 troopers firing from under the door, anouther spent cartridge hits the left troopers left arm. There are many more examples throughout the film but these 2 are close together (time-wise) and are easily the most annoying.

Just wondering.

Are they still there in the official DVD releases? (I haven't looked)

I spent all weekend watching Star Wars episode IV stuff. I am really excited to see what you have done.

If I haven't said it before, thanks for all the work you're doing.

Hi. I am new here, and I have seen what Adywan has done so far. It is cool that you have taken so much time to give fans an amazing piece of work that Lucas has failed to give us. Thanks.

Welcome DGC General X.

Adywan, just thought i'd bring up the work MoveAlong has done on the lost scenes in this thread, and as to how much you've looked at them?

well for myself, if I got luke out in the moisture field looking up at the sky with his macros' and the biggs tosche station stuff, I'd have a damn good stab at slotting it into my version.

I think the pay off is huge in terms of story at the end of the film, it makes the whole biggs death more poignant. it also means inclusion of the hangar scene.

I know lucas cut these scenes for pacing reasons but I think they 'could' work.

I've seen a glimpse of the restoration work done so far and I think with a bit of jigging, I can get them to track acceptably at 25fps without jerking and sharpen them up enough so that they can fit in with the surrounding footage.

movealong, how's about it? huffyuv or lagarith codec of the files uploaded somewhere and we can talk turkey.

Yeh these got me really interested. It's a pity the Lucasfilm have never released these at DVD resolution though. It would have been great to add these scenes, in some form, back into the movie, but no amount of work would ever get what we have now to the quality to fit back in without jumping out at you. They would be great to add a special features though.

It should be available through the usual methods (PIF, Usenet & Torrents).

I have just finished a test shot of the brand new Death Star schematics first animation. I can't thank the guy, Will, who is doing the mesh work enough for this. As you can see the new schematics now have a closer resemblance to the ones we see in AOTC instead of that old B&W Atari graphic style of the original. This shot is only a very basic test shot and will look a lot different in the completed edit, but i was so buzzed when he sent me the mesh i just had to share it with you all.

That looks great!!, any plans on updating the panels though?, specially the screens they look like old crt monitors.
I wish I had a Kryptonite cross, because then you could keep both Dracula AND Superman away.

Great work on the plans ady. I'd prefer it with OT-type panels for the PT, but still this is very good stuff. It's what alot of "saga" fans have wanted.

I downloaded one of your clips and all I got was the background music, but no vid. I was wondering if I did something wrong.

Ok, heres something that i wasn't going to post until May 25th but it looks like i may have either no internet connection or be stuck at dial up speeds around that time due to work being carried out on our streets phone lines. Its a little less complete than i was originally hoping to post, so sorry for that but it can't be helped

I decided to chose this scene mainly because its the track that i played the most when i got my soundtrack LP back in '77 or 78 (too old to remember exactly when i got it but it was a few weeks after it was released in the UK) so here's the footage that follows my version of "Ben's death & the TIE fighter attack".

there's about 3 - 5 FX shots that are still incomplete and the audio track is again a very temporary one (as you will be able to tell because of missing sound fx & unbalanced music track) but the rest is exactly how its going to be in the final release. There will probably be a few things that people may not like but i'm pretty happy with how its turned out and i won't be going back to change anything at this late stage except for finishing the few shots that i mentioned.

So here it is and happy (early) 30th anniversary.

BEN'S DEATH & TIE FIGHTER ATTACK - HAPPY 30TH ANNIVERSARY - rapidshare 70MB - XVID

sorry to anyone who has problems with rapidshare but i am unable to upload it again because i have reached my ISP upload limit for the month. If someone who has downloaded it could repost it elsewhere to help those people out then i would be very grateful
