Hi, could someone please send me the News Gothic Bold, Univers Light Ultra Condensed and ITC Franklin Gothic Demi Bold fonts? Thanks in advance.

I've been digging through the dozens and dozens of fonts I have, trying to figure out what is what and what works. So I read and re-read this thread and realized there has got to be a better way.

So here's my proposal: What we need is a font thread that is 1. pinned to the top for easy use, 2. contains links to freeware fonts where available and 3. we need actual examples of these fonts in action. It is one thing to read ITC Franklin or Universis Ultrathingamabob, but what good does that do ya? Not much.

I'm thinking something along the lines of these crude examples:

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a117/Sluggomatic2000/Fonts/Trajan2-1.jpg

Basically the actual fonts with their real names in context of where they work in the realm of fan edits and preservation. I'd start the thing if there proves interest. Thoughts?

That's a great idea Sluggo. I did that myself once for a crawl template anyway. Though for "Episode I (Lowercase)" you might want to suggest "Albertus MT" which is the actual font. The fanmade EPISODEI font just has "Trajan (Standard)" as the uppercase and "Albertus MT" as the lowercase. It is an option for those people who don't have access to Trajan Pro and Albertus MT though which are both pay fonts (well, Trajan/Trajan Pro is anyway).

So that's what it is called. Very good. We need other fonts nailed down as well, like the subtitle font, the opening title card (A long time ago...), credits, etc. I'd love to see the pic for the subtitles =). Any one who wants to contribute a pic is welcome to.

Yes, this is a very good idea.

Good idea. I think you'll need to get consensus on the best font in each case first, though, e.g. Star Jedi is woefully inaccurate.

Congratulations on passing the trials!

Oh, sure. Star Jedi isn't all that great. I was going to leave in the original logo there but since it is readily available, blah blah...
It's just a demo. Which is the point. To show what particluar fonts look like. I think I'd like to show as well fonts that are close, but not necessarily the right ones as good alternatives for those not ready to buy the real thing.

Another good idea. BTW, I think the "a long time ago..." font, green LFL font and the original end titles font are all the same as the crawl font.

I use SF Distant Galaxy instead of Star Jedi -> it's much better.

The Empire logo was hand sketched. I don't think it was based on a particular font.

Oh, okay - those are cool alternate ESB logos - what are they from?

Anyone have any ideas on the ROTJ font?

I've always heard that the ROTJ font is simply Times New Roman, and it looks like it to me. But I could be wrong.

Looks like a Times-type font. Prolly not Times New Roman specifically as that was made for MS in 1992. Maybe original Times (the Linotype version)?

Yeah, Times looks about right. That's what I used for my recreation of Jambe's "Returning to Jedi" logo and a "Return of the Ewok" logo for my cover (for OCP's disc). You still have to have a muck around with the "J" of "Jedi" to get it right.

If anyone is still filling requests, could someone please re-up or PM me the News Gothic Bold, Univers Light Ultra Condensed and ITC Franklin Gothic Demi Bold fonts? Thanks.

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if any of you have access to the font AltGothNo3d (the font that matches the subtitles on the OOT starting in '93). Not AlternateGothicEF, just AlternateGothicNo3d. My computer recently crashed and I have lost it and need it to continue on my project.

Any help or PM would be much appreciated! Thanks a lot,

TM

I think I've got it. Be aware of your PMs. Hope that's the right one.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Could you send that one to me too please?

Also I still need the ones I requested above if anyone had them.

I think I can help you on all counts except for ITC Franklin Gothic. Have "Franklin Gothic Demi" but no "Franklin Gothic Demi Bold". If those are the same things and something flew over my head, just let me know.

Good morning! If somebody has Trade Gothic Bold Condensed No. 20, could you send me a PM? I need a little assistance on a project I'm working on. Thanks!

Sometimes I wish fonts were easier to come by... I have all the important SW ones though, thankfully.

Though, I'm kind-of wondering while on this topic, what kind of font was used on a 1983 Return of the Jedi. All the ROTJs I've seen except Dr. Gonzo's used Alternate Gothic, and his uses Franklin Gothic Demi Condensed, and I'm wondering which (or another font!) was used on the original theatrical prints.

Hi, would you be able to email me those fonts? The link is now dead.
