Just wanted to pop in and say much thanx to meedermow for the work he's doing here, I've downloaded each disc the second they go up on MySpleen so far, and thanx to DJ for getting them up there. The fact is, I probably won't have any time to watch these soon, but I feel better just having them

Cheers Joltman - much thanks for the props and to Dark_Jedi as well.

I'm looking forward to them!

Great to see segaflip back with us! (DJ's thread).

I decided to help seed this for a while (as JSudonim), along with DJ and you, meedermow. Give you a little more bang for the postage.

Lissen up! Everybody who downloaded from me - please consider seeding it at MySpleen for a while.

One day I found... 10 years had got behind me. Next day was worse.

Download  shows from Cable DVR (Updated! Yes, it needs a rewrite, but it's worth slogging through, anyway).

Just grabbed the second disc off Usenet (hadn't realized it had been there for a minute) and it's awesome, as was the first disc. Thanks for all the effort and keep up the great work!!
Just one quick question though... what program do y'all use to generate those 3D images of the covers... the ones that look like it is a DVD case standing on display?

thanks

Mathiias google search IMANDIX. That will serve your needs.

So is no.2 is seeding on spleen now. Wonderful. Thanks DJ (and to meedermow of course).

Meeder i really do hope you take on the ultimate cut in the end, as the idea is frequently gets played with across the net, then it gets deemed undoable, then it seems to get aboandoned (or rather - still undergoing development).
It would be fantastic to see the ultimate cut, yes, but it would be even better to see an OT member as the one who actually conquered it in the 1st place. Not that i want to increase your workload any more than what it is at the moment.

Is there actually enough unique material (not alternate cuts) amongst the various cuts to make this endeavor worth it? Or are you simply going to wind up with an "ultimate cut" about 45 seconds longer than the longest of the commercial cuts?

You hear about the extended german edition?

IMDB An 'ultimate final cut' has been released in Germany. It features all known scenes from the director's cut and the cuts of Romero and Argento. It runs 156 minutes.

I've been scanning the past posts, but I might have missed it; Is the set going to include extras from the DOTD Perfect Collection from Japan? The interview and Tour of the Romero house is sweet.

Just got Disc 2, BTW. Sweet.

Okay, from what I saw on IMDB, that cut is significantly longer (what the hell is the extra material about?), but from what I've read, it's disliked because the audio mix is crappy.

The extra material consists of everything that is visually unique to the European version, incorporated into the extended cut.

I have no doubt that the audio mix is crappy, its dubbed in German afterall, but I imagine quite a bit of soundtrack tweaking would be necessary to accommodate all the various insertions and extentions. And while Anchor Bay have given us the greatest sources available yet, it'd still require some colour correction to effectively integrate the two prints together as their appearances do vary slightly. But, oh man, would it ever be worth it...

Anyway, I've been enjoying the contents of disc 2 and its a definite winner. I'd like to thank all the contributors as well as meedermow for making it happen.

Started watching disc 2 the last couple nights (actually had some time while my wife did some work) and came up with a little problem, just wondering if it's just me or if anyone else has had it. For the G4 Icons and Laserdisc supplementals, if I just start them there's no sound. I have to switch to the second audio track (I think the one that it defaults to is PCM, and I choose whatever the other one is and it works) This is on my MythTV HTPC, and I don't have a set-top DVD player to check it on. No big deal, just wondering if anyone else had the same issue. And for reference, the Romero introduction and the German thing both were OK without me having to do anything.
On a more positive note, I'm looking forward to discs 3 and 4! Is there an official list of what's gonna be on there yet?

Hey guys. I have the hard to find german version with cover above on DVD... cost me a hefty price a few years back... Is this required for this project?

Hey joltman,

I think I speak as a bit of authority on this (having created it !) that there is no second audio track on this disc for any of the items contained on it . This must just be an anomaly that your MythTV HTPC is throwing up. Certainly any of the discs that I've sent out and the ones out there on Usenet and myspleen have no second audio track for any item.

Try it on a set-top of a friend/family member etc and see

It would certainly come in handy as a reference for anyone tackling the 'Ultimate Cut'...

I picked up the Divimax edition of the film yesterday for $5.00 at a Loblaws, and now I can finally see the film in it's entirety, so I will download one of these discs soon to see the extra features.

Aside from the numerous versions of the film, I have also been aware that there is a Japanese cut of the film that exists somewhere. It's really just the theatrical version of the film, but every time there is violence on the screen, the picture goes still, and the music keeps playing, then the picture resumes after the violence ends. It also apparently had an introduction by Romero himself. I tried contacting a guy who supposedly had a copy of this version months ago, but I never received an answer back.

I also forgot to mention that the other reason why this stands apart from all the other releases is because it features a sort of prologue, which explains that the zombies were here on Earth, and consisted of white words placed over a black background, while being accompanied by clicking noises from a typewriter.

That'd be part of his 'Winners' series from the 70's, a venture by Romero and Richard Rubenstein designed to get George back on track after a few commercial failures. I'd be interested in checking it out, for sure, though I can't vouch for its appeal to the casual fan.
