One thing PC Users Can Do But Mac Users Can't

I don't understand why so many poeple take such trivial things and get so attached to it. Who cares if the Mac guy thinks he has less problems, or the Ford guy can outrun a Chevy guy, or that Pepsi is the greatest thing since ever. Fact is, I like windows (oh my God I said that!!!), I like Chevy's, and I think Pepsi sucks. But I will never see myself getting into any kind of heated argument or getting all pissed off over it. Who cares, what works for me, just works for me, and that is all I care about.

One of the few things I am picky about is my gun. I prefer my Heckler & Koch USP Compact .40 as opposed to the stinking S&W 1911 knock-off I HAVE to carry.

Well, I've not used a Mac, so I don't have any opinion on them, but that guy does have a point--if you're using a Mac because you couldn't figure out a PC, then is it really a problem with the PC, or is it a problem with you?

That's an awesome page, LOL! (Not choosing sides, here. I just think it's really funny on the face of it.)

Any Mac users out there want to share their illegal experiences of constructing biological weapons with iTunes? I'd love to hear some of that!

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

One time I tried mixing a track of Limp Bizkit, Britney Spears, and several gangsta rappers. The next day, I found a .doc file where the track had been, saying that the file I'd created was a hazzard to humanity, and it was signed by the FBI. True story.

A hazard to humanity... maybe.
A testament to lack of musical taste... definitely.

Well, I was trying to create a black hole... for practical purposes, of course.... not a weapon.

Installing/patching XP within Parallels on my new Intel Mac as I type this.

I've only needed to reboot XP, say, 15 fucking times.

I've had occasional trouble with XP, but usually that's because I've done stupid things to obtain a virus, like download shareware from a no-name company. As long as you have a decent fire-wall and virus protection, XP is a good OS. Can't comment on the Mac OS since I've not used it.

That site is hilarious!

By the way Jay, I have to reboot the Mac here at work everytime it gets a critical update from Apple too, so it's really not that different from XP. Of course, XP is about 5 years old now, so I'd expect any installation that doesn't have SP2 slipstreamed into it to have far more updates than one that does.

I think I've been forced to reboot my home XP machine a handful of times since I've installed it 4 1/2 years ago. It is built on the same kernel as 2000 Pro and NT. I'm not sure how much it lost in the process but the NT kernel overall has been quite stable.

One thing I don't like about XP is the "look and feel" of it out of the box. I changed back to the classic Windows desktop almost immediately upon seeing the grassy hillside crap that comes native.

I'm getting ready to do a company-wide upgrade to XP if we can secure the licensing, so looks like for me at least XP isn't going anywhere for a while.

You're just now doing a company wide upgrade to XP? How many computers are we talking about here? If it weren't for the fact that 90% of the applications at my job won't run on Vista, the two machines we just ordered would've had it. As it is, we have to upgrade our anti-virus, contact management, and I have to tweak the login scripts before we can go Vista. Not that I want to go Vista, but it's really just a matter of time before we're unable to get XP.

That was actually a rift in the space time continuum. That message was originally posted in 2002 and finally just caught up to our timeline.

No, I work at a non-profit so upgrading as soon as a product comes out is not always possible. It's not always possible for several years...

I'VE NEVER HAD A VIRUS ON MY MAC, BUT I HAVE HAD EGGS, TOAST, AND A SIDE OF BACON ON IT.

LOL!
So this wasn't iMac, but an eatMac.

Hmmm...

I've never thought about the names themselves.

Just take a look... "Mac" or "Apple" easily beats "Pee-See". PC? Pissy? "You gonna be pissy after buying PC"

I entertaining the idea of buying myself a Mac Mini and hooking it up to my 62" big screen in the living room to surf the net, look at photos, watch videos. Anyone have any input on this idea. Keep in mind it will be my first dabble with actually owning a Mac, I figure it will get my feet wet enough to buy a 2k rig later on.

I love Macs and Windows and Linux.

I prefer to use windows xp because that is what i have used since before it came out. Number of viruses i have got i would say ZERO, yep that is right zero. The only problems i have had were hard drive issues.

To me the problems are all end user problems, windows just is more easy for stupid people to f up
