Anybody else read this book by Richard Matheson? If you have not, I highly recommend it. It is a fairly short book, but impressively written and played out. From the opening line to the final words, this is one of the few books I consider perfect. Perhaps the one thing about it I did not like was the fact that it had to end, but on the other hand its brevity has a certian charm to it. When I first read this book it reminded me why I liked science fiction in the first place.

This book has been adapted to the big screen twice already. Once with Vincent Price in a film called Last Man on Earth and a second time as The Omega Man with Charlton Heston. Right now they are in the process of filming a third adaption of the novel, this time bearing the actual name of the book. For someone like me who enjoyed both previous movie adaptions (but each for very different reasons) this is exciting news. Or, it was, until I found out it would be staring Will Smith. Now I am expecting I, Robot with vampires. I can already hear the line "Oh hell no! You did NOT just stick yo ugly ass demon fangs through my leather jacket!"

Just wondering what some of your takes were on this? I can't imagine I am the only one here who has read the book and seen the other two films. Anybody excited about this one? Or like me just afraid this will be another "bad ass" Will Smith action flick?
