Hmm, the reedited versions. I wish they would include the originally aired episodes. I am impressed they are cleaning them up though, who knows, maybe they will even be anamorphic!

Just be glad you're not getting the "Nazi bounty-hunter shoots first" edit... I can't tell you how loud I yelled "DIE!!" when I saw the newly released OOT on the special features disc this past year when Greedo went down the way he originally did. Thankfully it doesn't appear they're messing with these eps.

It's out today and there's nary a word of it on IndianaJones.com. Has Lucas really turned into this much of a marketing dipshit. The O-OT quality fiasco was pretty bad, but not hyping your (supposedly quality) release on your own web site is about as fucking stupid as anything they've done. Millions of people hitting the official site to find out about this new movie suddenly learn there's a whole boxed set of movies they've probably never seen and might want to check out ... but instead we have tired-ass video updates from the set of Indy IV.

I can't be the only one who was more excited about the YIJ DVDs than I am about the upcoming Clone Wars animated series.

Hell, I've never even seen YIJ and I'm more excited for it than some stupid animated Star Wars series.

It was boring. I am still excited about them coming out though, it has been so long since I have seen them, and I never saw every episode. I would like to see them again, and catch the ones I missed. I would never buy them though, so I'll have to wait for someone I know to get them, so I can watch theirs.

You know these would great if they werent 90 FUCKING DOLLARS! I mean seriously--90 bucks? Okay, sure, they made a full-length documentary for each episode, but theres only 13 of them, and no additional extras beyond DVD-ROM stuff. $90?? If it was $40 or $50 I would pick it up, because I liked the show and I liked that they are taking an educational stance. But honestly--WHO is actually going to be buying these things when they are almost 100 bucks? LFL has made a serious, grave mistake here, and all that work they put into this--three or four years worth--is going to go down the drain. A shame.

If you don't want to buy them then, watch it on tv. It's been airing on one of those history channels... Or at least I think it was Young Indiana Jones, the episode was about Indy being in Love and, talking in different languages. I kept falling asleep during it though... If you've got digital cable check the listings of the History channels.

Isn't this about the same price as most any Star Trek full season set? Of course, the major difference is that Star Trek for the most part isn't as dull as Young Indiana Jones, and has many more fans. In a way, I'm suprised they even got released. They are trying to cash in on the upcoming movie. I'd be suprised if they don't get discounted down to the $40-$50 range someday, maybe after Indiana Jones IV comes out on DVD.

Well, indeed Star Trek season sets are way overpriced. I don't think you should ever pay over $60 or $70 for any type of set, unless its something like the John Ford at Fox collection that has 200 disks, or the Seinfeld Complete Series or whatever.

I can see these being reduced to half the current price but without the docs--again, robbing the set of half of its value. The docs are a big draw, they are professionally researched and very education, and well made, and its great that each episode has a specific documentary on the subject within the episode. But anything over $70 is outrageous, and this is the sale price. Here in Canada its normal retail price is $100.00, more in some places. If they want to appeal to either demographic--ie fans of the series, or parents and teachers seeking educational entertainment--then it needs to be within reasonable grasp of each, and $90 on sale is about 25% too high. The surprising thing is that this is a relatively forgotten show with a small fanbase--theres not a huge built-in audience like Star Trek. A lot of people would be curious to check it out, especially in light of Indy IV, and it really looks like a cool set but I'm really astounded at how overpriced it is. Its a complete waste.

Getting eight feature-length telefilms with roughly two hours of bonus material for each one ... that's like $12.50 per episode at retail. But if that's still too expensive:

1) Like Ronnie Mervis the diamond importer says, "Nobody pays retail, why should you." Amazon's opening week on Vol. 1 was 48% off the MSRP.

2) If that's still too much, rent it. How many times will you really watch them anyway? Enough to justify the cost of purchasing the set? Or will you fare better by renting? Especially from flat-rate Netflix?

I know that, objectively speaking, its actually quite decent. DVD has in some ways spoiled us--I mean if you take a look at stuff like Battlestar Galactica, you get each hour-long episode with commentary and deleted scenes for like $3.00 or so. Yes, I had been thinking of doing this. Its still annoying that Lucasfilm has fixed the price in retail so high, and not just because I want to save money, because I also believe its a half-decent show that actually might have taught viewers about history, but now hardly anyone will get to see all the work they put into the sets. I'm sorry but a sale sticker with $90.99 is way too much when I saw this thing sitting beside the new Rome Season 2 set with its $64.99 sticker and much better quality content.

I wanted the orginal broadcast versions. I hate these re-edited Tv Movies I really really do. I loved George Hall as the old Indy bookending each adventure. Fucking GL can't leave anything alone!
