I never found him all that difficult. Just remember to throw the spear before he gets to the boat.

Bust out the nunchucks - the TMNT Arcade game is coming to Xbox Live Arcade.

If this has 4P online coop, I may just have to turn my 360 on for the first time in a month.

It's been years, but I think it's something like spear him a few times as he approaches you. Then, once he's towing your "dingy" around, you can hit him a few more times. Also, make sure you steer the boat so you don't get knocked out of it too often.

I wonder how the game is going to work. I mean I remember pumping in a TON of quarters just to beat a few levels, and the guy in the video took all 4 Turtles just to be Beebop.

Yeah, exact ports of arcade games (especially of a nature like that) seem to lose some of their challenge in the home console world simply because you don't have to pump in quarters. I remember the arcade ports on the MegaMan Anniversary Collection. There was no way to lose because you just press start and continue the fight exactly where you left off.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

As old as it is, Gauntlet on the 360 nailed that one pretty well. The constantly ticking down health meter + frantic action made it really arcade like...now if we could just get 4P Coop Golden Axe we'd be off to the races.

Damn. I wasted a lot of money on that game when it was in the arcades. I love the NES version of the game but it was hardly an accurate arcade port. Now it looks like I'll be able to actually play the real game at home. I'm definitely going to have to purchase an Xbox whenever the price drops. Uhg, not that I like the idea of giving Microsoft any of my money to help them throw their weight around in the console industry, but I have become addicted to Gears of War recently and Halo 3 should be a pretty good game. Oh well.

^ Love 'em or hate 'em, you've got to admit that Microsoft have done a fantastic job of courting game developers in this current generation versus last.

They've definately proven that they are in this "to win" and won't back down from Sony, who, let's face it - are their real competition as far as they are concerned despite what the numbers say.

When you think of all of the developers like Capcom, Konami, Square (!!!) and so forth who are developing games for the 360 it will be extremely interesting to see how it plays out.

My first inclination was to think that developers would steer clear of system exclusives this round, due to escalating production costs, but that hasn't been the case. Now we're at the point where all 3 companies have such strong exclusives that the choice for gamers is amazing - so much so that the prediction is that many homes will see 2 of the 3 competing consoles installed. That's incredible to me.

Now that Microsoft has upped the size limit for XBLA games, ultimately paving the way for a service like Sony's where we will see more Symphony Of The Night's than Geometry Wars they've sent a signal to the industry.

I'm hoping there'll be a price drop on the 360 in the next year or so, then I'll pick one up but not before. I think MS is definitely taking the battle to Sony, using their (Sony's) current weakness and Nintendo's rise, just putting out solid titles, opening up to developers, keeping quiet.

Most people don't know this, but most arcade games have difficulty settings buried in their service menus. I would assume that a port of a game like this would make those settings available somehow.

Man, I loved that game way back in the arcade. My cousins and I almost beat the game with $20 one day. Almost.

Hopefully the Simpsons arcade game isn't too far behind.

Anyone ever play a game called Barbarian for the Commodore pc platform? It was single-screen sidescroller (played on only one screen at a time) where you fought with swords against warriors and then eventually got to a fireball throwing wizard. I was SO close to defeating the wizard. My sword was ON THE WAY to delivering the final stroke when he nailed me with the damn fireball. Classic.

Way back in the day, me and about 4 other friends stocked up on quarters and beat The Simpsons game. It was amazing.

There is nothing quite like beating an arcade game with your friends when you are a kid. It is more than just a challenge, it is your savings. The feeling of victory when you reach the end is unexplainable. And that disheartening feeling of defeat as the "continue?" timer counts down and none of you have any quarters left...

Awww, C3 you nailed it right on the head. That "continue?" sign was so depressing, frustrating, heartbreaking, and maddening at the same time. I can't tell you how many times I either wanted to cry or put my fist through the display when that popped up.

Correction, Barbarian was ported to the Commodore, but was available for multiple platforms. Here's some info:

This sucks. I just typed out a big ass message to you guys chock full of pictures and goodies, to show you how today Sony outlined why they're going to win the console "war."

I'm just going to link to where I got my info, but let's just say this - I own every major console from the last 25 years, with the exception of anything branded Sony - that's how little of a fan I am of theirs.

But now? They're going to destroy Xbox Live Arcade and Nintendo's Mii's. Holy shit is this huge.

Sony's Key Note GDC Address @ Joystiq

I'm so pissed...my post was awesome and it timed out when I went to post. Oh well, you'll have to hit the jump to read all about it...

Oh yeah, I also had mentioned that Commodore is bringing back the Amiga name to high-end gaming PC's, thought you C64 fans would like that.

Saw this on AOTS last night. Doesn't really impress me. More like a console version of Second Life. It remains to be seen how the developers will integrate it into game play. The million $ question remains: Is it worth more than $1000 all told (hi-def tv, games, etc.) for this? Me, I'm perfectly happy with the $400 or so I spent for my Wii. I don't think it's enough to save this round for Sony.

There was one cool C64 game called Nightmare Park. It was a mixture of text adventure and action. There is a part where you get chanced by a stampede of rhinos (I think, might have been unicorns though) and all these ? "Y" come pracing down the screen and you have to dodge them.

Good stuff. It is funny to look at the games that use to be the latest and greatest and see how they look by todays standards. I still have a commodore 64 in my garage and it still works, but it doesn't have any thing with it. It is just a keyboard/CPU with a TV jack, pretty useless when you can't load anything on it. I keep it for historical reasons.
