ADM, I am currently watching your Superman 2 Hybrid cut. I love it! I think it really improves on the movie. It will most likely be my preferred version which I end up watching the most from now on. You did a really good job, and made great editing choices.

My friend gave it to me for my birthday...and I don't normally come onto this board because I wouldn't really be able to contribute anything except for giving my opinion on the finished works, but I like this so much I wanted to let you know. Next up I plan to watch the International Cut of Superman 1, and the Supes redeemed. I also like Elf, so my friend got me that one too. You pick some good movies to work on.

So again, thanks, and good luck with the rest of your projects!

Unfortunately my upload speed isn't always the greatest and I've been having a few router issues lately. So I'm gonna put this out to the first 3 people to email me at harlock415 at earthlink dot net will get a choice of the same raw files I got from Bizzle of ADM's Superman Returns which spans 2 single layer discs (you'll have to copy them to your HD annd Burn to Dual Layer), or the single layer recodes I did plus a second disc for the extras. Either way, it's 2 discs. US addresses only though. The single layer recode was done with DVD Rebuilder and CCE SP at 9 passes.
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.

Well I watched ADM's Redeemed on the weekend and here's my review;

Firstly my I say to all aspiring fan editors out there, you must check this edit out. There's a lot that can be learnt from it. I must admit I was expecting more of a highlights package but what ADM's put together works remarkably well.

I think this edit does better things for Superman III than it does for part IV. Redeemed shows you that some really good material and performance were shot for SIII, only to be degraded by the silliness going on around them. Whilst Superman IV isn't exactly rushed through here, the editing just doesn't seem as slick as the handling of SIII material. This is most notably due to the audio.

Take the UN scene. Obviously ADM wanted to get rid of Lacy and her father, so the scene where Lacy says "What's he going to say", to which Lois replies "Something Wonderful" is cut. This triggers an abrupt cut in the audio that highlights the edit. Perhaps the audio could've been aloud to play out over a shot of the UN audience. You'd still hear the dialog though at least not see the faces.

Getting the audio right is extremely important as you don't want to draw attention to where a cut is made.

One thing that bothered me was using the SII deleted scene for Lex’s getaway. It just seems it was used purely for the sake of utilising the footage. It doesn’t really improve the film and just creates a few small holes.

Here we have Eve bust Lex out, only for her to disappear, then when we get to Lex at the museum we have Lenny tagging along. This character hasn't even been introduced, he just appears out of nowhere. Also when Superman drops Lex back into the hands of the authorities we have fellow prisoners whistling Mozart, which is now rendered insignificant.

Just one more thought, perhaps the scene of evil Superman smashing into the oil-tanker could’ve been used, just to make him a little more menacing.

In any case a marvellous effort ADM I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Forever a Christopher Reeve Superman Movie Fan.

Partial Superman Returns review:

I received my 2 raw sl dvdrs of ADM's Supes Comes Back edit last night, and dropped them on my laptop this morning to burn on DL and to rar for RS upload. I'm 23 minutes into the movie now, and lemme tell ya, ADM should be a professional editor. Before anyone jumps in with "oh, you're all about being on ADM's wang" or such nonesense, I have to make a point. I like fanedits. Some work, some don't, but I generally like fanedits. Some of my favorite editors are Spence, Darth Editous, ocpmovie (if you wanna call his Classic Editions "fanedits") and ADM, amongst many others I can't name atm. I know when I get an ADM edit, it's going to be worth the time it took to get it and will be worth my time watching.

23 minutes into this movie, and it's a totally different film then what is on my shelf. First things first, we get right to the Big Boy Scout coming home. Credits finish, we get a pan down to Ma Kent washing dishes, and BAM, Clark crashes his new car all over the yard (yes, i'm using an analogy). Only AFTER we see Supes do we go to the sequence with Lex. Then it's back to Clark again, right into a seamless transition of what I think is a deleted scene (I only have the 1disk official dvd). Then back to Lex in a great transition, back to Clark with that seamless edit of a deleted scene (I really need to rewatch all of my official SR dvd again, because I've seen 2 scenes back to back). Only that little in, and this edit has already made this a better film.

After I watch the entire movie, I'll post a full review, and then probably later tonight, I'll begin the "rarring up for Rapidshare upload" process.

Once the RS upload is complete, I will be posting links to it on the RS threads at faneditforum, so keep a look out during the next couple of days.

*Edit: Full Review Below*:

Now THIS is a proper sequel to the Superman films I know and love (namely 1&2). ADM has done another truely awesome edit to this and it makes me proud that I own Superman Returns on dvd.

Yes, Stalkerman is taking right out of that sumbitch, and if you didn't know it, you'd never know about the misadventures of Stalkerman. Now it is Clark being worried about the woman that he loves, not pining after some chick he can't have by going to her house and looking up her skirt through the elevator.

The deleted scenes incorporated into the film are so seamless that this will probably be the extended director's cut that is officially released, or it should be.

The isloated score is a very nice addition to the film, as that track alone is worth seeing to see how well the score compliments this film.

As stated before, the Smallville sequences are short and to the point. We see Clark crashing the at that farm right off the bat, and then we get to Lex swindling the old lady (and what looks like a shortened version of that). When we go back to Smallville, it's a combo regular/deleted scene, back to "What's Lex Doing?", and back to a regular/Deleted scene from Smallville. Then onto Metropolis. Smallville is not drug out like in the theatrical version.

As I stated, I only own the 1disc dvd of SR, so I have no knowledge of all the deleted scenes for this. I don't know if Kumar speaks in any of the deleted scenes, but I don't recall seeing him speak anymore in this then in the theatrical, save maybe one line if it was from him. Which is a shame, but it really wouldn't add much if he did speak.

As I said, the scenes that I did notice were deleted scenes were put in so well that you really didn't notice a difference. I can't stress how well this is enough. Out of all the ADM edits I have and have scene, it still amazes me how well he does this.

This edit makes a perfect addition to your ADM collection...or your fanedit collection....or your dvd collection on a whole. Highly recommended as are all ADM edits.

Dr. G, thanks as always for your kind words.

I did add a Kumar line as they trek to the fortress without having to add in the whole scene. My first cut had the whole thing and it just seemed painfully disjointed. Then I had the voiceover idea and loved how it played, especially with what was one of Ottman's finest cues behind it.

IS there ayone I could PM about the ADM Superman edits. I have his SW saga edits, and I own all the official Superman dvd's. If so, please let me know, for PIF or trade..they sound very exciting, especially sup 2 hybrid, redeemed, and returns. I have always wanted to see a less silly sup 3, this is very interesting!!!

I apologize for the slow wait on this, but I got a friend, Louie over in Britain-land and he's got an FTP site he's upping this stuff to, plus Harlock appears to be RapidSharing as well, so there will be links shortly to the source files that were sent to me. Also, Lou has hooked up a divx version for those who might not have the bandwidth and don't want to spend 5 days downloading the thing.

The links to these should be showing up shortly.

Again, I'd like to stress, it was LOVELY watching ADM re-edit this thing. And not just because a lot of my ideas were incorporated--he went his own way quite a few times and never once did his re-configuring of this movie feel out of place. The only two edits I caught were because the music didn't fade out as long as it should have, if those two edits could have been masked (And I may have only caught them because I actually do sound and music editing for a living) I guarantee Warner's could release this legitimately and not a single person would be the wiser that it was a fan with his own equipment that re-cut the film.

Alright, it has been put up on an FTP. It will be available for as long as possible, so I would get it as SOON as possible. Thanks to my boy Louie.

log into the ftp with this info -

respectthejooks.com
login = wwwresp
pass = 4horsemen

then go to -

public_html > jooksed >

There are 2 SR folders in there. Get em both, and you'll have all of ADM's source files. I believe if you just get the first folder, you'll get the movie only.

And I'm sorry the shit took so long, but anyone who wants to up anything, feel free to do so. Single disc stripped versions to demonoid or usenet, whatever, divx versions, the whole shebang in authored DL form, whatever. Please do so. DJ, I don't know if you're still holding off from upping what you've got for whatever reason, but please don't Unleash it.

Finished downloading. For those that want more info:

This is two single layer discs that need to be combined to make a dual layer. You will need to grab all of it.
You can shrink it to DVD-5 or whatever later if you want.

There are NO extras on this version so if you want them you'll have to look elsewhere.

Spleen is weak sauce anyway, Demonoid is the move.

Also, I believe the ROM folder IS in one of the two folders, might be in an AUDIO TS folder or stashed in one of the VIDEO TS folders, I don't know why, but I think Lou might have said something about that being the case when he split the discs.

Many thanks for this, is the server choked up by some chance? It's just that I can't access ftp.respectthejooks.com

Has ADM's edit of Superman Returns been uploaded anywhere else?

Thank you

Got mine from The Bizzle (many thanks) with FTP Commander and it was a fantastically fast experience - so no problems here.

Are you able to connect at all Ironman ? (and welcome by the way !)

This version didn't have the DVD_ROM though, so would be very grateful if someone could host/post it. If it's not too big - I'd be happy to put it on my webspace if someone could oblige with the content.

Really looking forward to watching this one.

Cheers,

mm
