I do.

You fag, that game has the easiest final boss guy of all time. All you have to do is crouch and sweep, he just walks into you over and over again.

Well, queen, I've never made it to the final boss, so there!

Yes. It wasn't that unpopular of a game was it? Its graphic were always a bit dated though, even at the time it came out.

I never thought they looked dated. They were just of a more cartoony-style. I mean, it was one of the few games of that time that actually had character sprites facing in all eight directions. Not even A Link to the Past or FFVI (not entirely sure on FFVI, but I'm pretty sure it didn't) had that. But, anyway, it was super popular in Japan but didn't live up to Nintendo of America's expectations (and huge, expensive marketing campaign), so it was pretty much a failure over here. Sad but true.

Sean, you might want to think about linking those images.

You know, since they're bigger than my 17-inch widescreen monitor.

Majora's Mask felt like a rushed work in order to cash in on the excitement of OoT.

Wait, wait.... Whazzat?!

Majora's Mask is one of the best in the series, though for very different reasons. There are only four dungeons, but they're all very good, and Majora's Mask comes closer than any other game in history to feeling like a real living, breathing world. How the heck did it feel like a rushed work?

Eh, I don't know. I know some people really liked it, but it never really clicked with me. It came out at a time where I didn't get a whole lot of time to play it, and after playing it for a while I kind of lost interest, just didn't hold on to me like all the others did. I picked it up sometime later and played it to the point where I got the Goron mask, then it got kind of cool and I invested some more time in it, then I got bored again, then finally a good two years after I bought it I finally buckled down and beat it. It wasn't a bad game, I just felt it was subpar. I know a lot of people who felt the same way about it. It did feel a little recycled with the reused sprites, but that didn't bother me too much, because it fit the whole surreal through the looking glass feel of the game (which was something I thought was a cool idea). Yeah, I guess that is why it came off as rushed to me, it was short and just about every single model felt recycled, I have always considered it more of an "expansion pack" to OoT. I must admit, the time travel was pretty cool though.

It seems every "major" Zelda game has kind of a lesser follow up game to accompany it. Not to say the lesser game is always bad, or even subpar, but they usually have to try something different to keep from reusing the main story again. For example:

Zelda with the Gannon/Princess Zelda story - by Zelda II which tries out a new style and formate and with a different story line
A Link to the Past with the Gannon/Princess Zelda story - Link's Awakening which takes place on some obscure island (but was a brilliant game, especially for the GB)
OoT with the Gannon/Princess Zelda story - Majora's Mask which follows an obscure story in some offbeat world

See what I mean? It was kind of tradition for a while there. None of the followups (in my opinion) have ever been quite as good as the main features. I definately wouldn't throw MM out, but If I were to choose between it an Ocarina, I would take Ocarina any day of the week.

See, that's a much harder choice for me. Ocarina of Time is longer and more epic, but Majora's Mask has a more involved story and some of the greatest character development of any game ever.

It's like choosing between Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back.

Totally agreed. I don't think I could have one without the other simply because they fit each other so well. One does what the other doesn't and vice versa. Together they feel very complete to me.

How do you guys feel about the whole Prince of Persia series? Many people say that The Sands of Time will always be the best, but I really enjoyed Warrior Within and have yet to beat The Two Thrones (will probably play the Wii version which is called The Rival Swords) but I feel like Warrior Within was overall the better game.

I finished most of Sands of Time on the Gamecube and then got stuck and lost interest; I never played Warrior Within due to the bad publicity; I rented Two Thrones on the X-Box and thought it was alright, but it didnt' really do anything Sands of Time didn't do just as well.

Huh, that is really odd, for some reason I will never be able to see them that way. I could so take Ocarina and leave Majora's with out a single qualm. I wonder why that game never struck a chord with me.

A quick semi related question. When I played Minish Cap I noticed that did the Majora's recycling characters thing again. Many of the people were people that showed up back in Ocarina of Time. Including the builders and the grave keeper and the running man. Please tell me they just did that for fun and none of these guys are in Wind Waker or Twilight Princess. Are they? Or did they come up with totally new models? Man, I have got to get a GameCube.

The characters don't show up exactly in WW or TP, but the archetypes certainly do.

****SPOILER*****

Am I the only one who was upset to see what had become of Kakariko Village in TP? It was kind of sad to see the town in shambles, I mean, the windmill was gone, Dampe's hut was just a pile of rubble...almost as bad as seeing what happened the Hyrule in WW...

No, but..

****SPOILER****

I was even more upset about the fact that there are only three people that actually live in Kakariko and that two of them are adult males and the other is a very young child. The rest of the village was murdered by Twilight Creatures. How is Kakariko supposed to recover with an old guy, a middle aged man, and the middle-aged man's daughter as its only permanent residents?

Holy crap! What a kinky scenario. If I were the middle aged man I would kill the old guy to prevent him from making any moves on my daughter, then I would take my daughter and run off to try to find some other town to live in.

Hmm, so is the Hyrule of TW designed to look like a future version of OoT? You guys mentioned the windmill and Dampa's hut. Spoilers don't bother me, I wont be playing this game anytime soon.

****SPOILERS****

Definitely. The southern part of the game map (in the GC version) overlaps almost perfectly with the Ocarina of Time map. The game takes place probably a century or so after Ocarina, but before The Wind Waker's great flood. And Twilight Princess is also the only game in the series besides Adventure of Link to show any of Northern Hyrule.

The situation in Kakariko isn't kinky. The only survivors of the town are the man who runs the bomb shop 24/7 (the old guy) and the medicine man named Renado, plus Renado's daughter. That said, for most of the game, some kids from Link's village and a troup of Gorons also occupy the village, so they're not the only people in the town, just the only people who actually live there.

I know it isn't kinky, I was just making a lame joke about the only residents of the town being two older men and a young girl.

That is really cool that they kept some of the OoT locations.

Cool - just got back from the grocery store where I found a copy of Metroid Prime for $20! Best part is that it was new and sealed, and the original non-Player's Choice version.

I had to choose between that and Viewtiful Joe, hope I chose wisely...

Awesome. On a similar note, I found Metroid Prime 2 at a thrift store a few months ago for only seven bucks! I've been playing it a lot the last few days. Hopefully I'll have it beat in the next few days. (No strategy guide either).

I've had Metroid Prime 2 since Fall 2004 and I still haven't beat it. I really ought to go work on that.
