You live in the UK, right?

Nope...US.

It helps to learn when retailers put their stock out, as often they have Wii's unadvertised and it's just the luck of the draw.

I've tried to pry this information out of them, however the only answer I typically get is "We don't know when they'll be in...they come on different days".

Since I've bought my Wii through camping out and risking hypothermia, I've been to WalMart twice on a Tuesday just as they put Wii's in the display case. First time, there were 3 and were gone within 5 minutes! Second time there was one on display at noon...

I'll be calling pretty much every day now, myself in the morning, my wife at night, so hopefully one will loosen up soon. It's just unbelievably frustrating.

Does anyone know if Animal Forest, the first game in the Animal Crossing series, released in Japan for the N64 was ever released in North America?

I'm currently listening to Nintendo's Sound Selection Volume 1 - Peach Healing Music, which collects some of the most relaxing Nintendo music. It's amazing, and the music for Animal Forest and Animal Forest E+ is absolutely awesome, and I want to play the game. I've played Animal Crossing, which was a delight, and now I want to check out the original based on the music alone.

BTW, if any of you gamers don't have this album, I strongly urge you to check it out. You can fall asleep to the music it's so nice...

I know it sucks - the only advice I can further offer is to watch the flyers mid-week, and at some point you will see Wii's advertised for a Saturday or Sunday, then go really early to the store.

That's what I had to do a couple of weeks ago, and it's totally worth it. My wife was actually really supportive of it too, she wanted the Wii as badly as I did!

That was my absolute favorite level. I loved the music and looking in the background and making out familiar ships and machines hidden in the heaps of trash. I really liked jumping from train to train, it always got the blood flowing, especially on the harder difficulties. And yes, the battle with IG-88, I loved that battle. I like how he would sometimes jump and disappear, and while you are looking all over for him you suddenly hear the creepy noises he makes and he is behind you.

The "wampastompa" code in that game was really cool too. While it was very glitchy, it was cool to be able to control AT-STs, Stormtroopers, and Wampas. It was a really hard code to enter too. I invented a method using a toothpick stuck into the small in the middle of the joystick to allow you to use your teeth to assist in enter the code. It became much easier that way. Some of my friends would just use their chins to enter the code, but I found I could never hold the stick at the correct angle for long enough to get it to work. Those Lucasarts guys use to come up with some really cool secrets in their games. Like in Rogue Squadron for the 64, you could fly a Buick, or even a Naboo fighter long before Episode I even came out. They released the code shortly after the film hit theaters and it was hard to imagine this ship had been hidden in the game for the last five months without anybody even knowing about it. Then way back in the WIN95/DOS days they had all sorts of neat things hidden in Rebel Assault II, the most impressive of which was the Mystery Science Theater 3000 mode complete with silhouettes. That was fantastic, especially if you were a fan of that show.

Man, my eyes get a little misty when I think about the days that Lucasarts actually put out good games...

Say, Sage, do you have any friends that work at a retailler? Tell them to keep an eye out for one.

SUCCESS!!!!

I went to the mall for lunch, stopped at EBGames, picked up Resident Evil 4 on the cheap. Noticed a spare Wii controller, thought I'd better pick one up as I heard they were scarce as well.

Was on my way out when I looked downstairs to the FYE Games and noticed that they just got a UPS shipment. Ran down the escaltor, asked the guy if they had one and was in shock when he said yes! Got that bad boy right then and there...

I have to go back to work, irony of ironies, then to my parent's house for dinner tonight. Will hook it up when I get home...ARRGHHHHH! This is going to be tedious...

Thanks to all for the tips and for listening to my venting!

How awesome is that? I'll tell you! VERY awesome.

Have you guys all shared Wii codes yet? Can I get in on the action?

Pure awesome, Sage!

Just don't give yourself a Zelda burnout!

Is anyone using it over wireless? I've got a DLink router at home with 802.11g support and wanted to know if anyone has any tips, etc.

I won't get Zelda burnout, as I plan on finishing Wind Waker before getting any of the others. I've got a slew of Nintendo to take on now!

I've been using the official Nintendo brand USB Wi-Fi connector with no troubles, other than the fact that my Firewall has to be disabled for it to work.

That's really unfortunate. Hopefully it won't come to that as there's a firewall embedded in my router. I'm going to try to get it to work with my router. Does the connection need to be active in order for the Wii to work? I'm just curious as I didn't buy the USB in the hopes I wont need it.

I didn't know there was a Wi-Fi USB connector. Honestly, I have yet to hook mine up to the Internet at all. Wish I knew what I was doing...

I believe it's just like a USB "thumb drive" that you plug into an internet-connected pc. It then acts as a Wi-Fi access point for the Wii. Supposed to be very easy.

Wal-Mart has a device you can by off the shelf for $40 that allows you to connect the Wii, PSP, and DS all to the internet. It should be near the other Wii accesories. The Nintendo brand can only be ordered online in the US.

Oh, it is. The range is decent, too. My PC (the Official Nintendo Wi-Fi adapter is not Mac compatible) is upstairs and the Wii on the main level of my house, and I have never had problems going online. It's pretty cool, actually - and only about $30 (works for the DS, too).

Maybe so in some countries, but it is readily available at all major electronics stores in NA.

So really all you need is an Internet-connected computer connected to the Wi-Fi router somewhere in your home?

The computer itself can be hard-wired to the router. Once the USB device is plugged into the pc it becomes the wireless router.

HellBoy...BOO! HISSSSSSSS! Sorry Chalts. I just think that's one of the most overrated properties out there right now (prepared for flaming!).

Yeah, dude - that's the one I bought at Best Buy - it was DS branded and they've since changed the box with a picture of the DS and the Wii, but the actual USB adapter is the same.

Did you need to configure it when you plugged it in? For example, I understand it supports WEP encryption (CRAP), so did you configure it with keys, etc?

Yeah, don't diss Hellboy if you have not read the original comics. If you are judging it based on the movie alone then I shall have to slap you.
