You guys aren't going to believe this, but last Sunday my PC crashed as well. Will only start in standby mode. Today I hope to have it up and running again.

Maybe it's just a coincidence....

I am telling you all Lucas is lurking on these boards like a rat. I say we smoke him out.

So, do you think you could take care of the stormtroopers finding the pod scene by adding more ordinary Imps like AT-ATs and AT-STs?

Big mechanical robots with lotsa gears like AT-ATs and AT-STs + lotsa sand to get in those gears = not so good.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Thanks. I never knew that that line was for ANH.

Since when was that line for ANH?

Where in the film would they use that?

I thought it was recorded especially for ESB SE.

Huh??

It's bullshit about that line being recorded for Star Wars. I'm not sure what Ben Burtt was thinking when he said that. And it's easy to prove that it's not from a cut Star Wars scene on several counts. First of all, there is no scene where Vader boards an Imperial ship in Star Wars. A scene where this occurs isn't even in any of the scripts.

Also, in Star Wars they are "Imperial Cruisers". The term "Star Destroyer" was not used until The Empire Strikes Back.

And now about Adywan's project......

I didn't join originaltrilogy.com to advocate more changes to the movie. The whole point was to try and get a classic film back to its original form. This micro-managed, "It's better because now 3PO is seen in the macrobinoculars" is the same sort of garbage Lucas has been doing to the films (both old and new) for over 10 years now. It's the story that counts, not how many creatures blink. Adywan, you're demonstrating a talent for effects, but your efforts would be far better suited to screwing around with your own work and not worshiping the heels of Lucas.

Well at least the reversed surround channels have been addressed.

One of the things I love about the work Adywan is doing here is the fact that he is taking the Lucas-released Special Editions, which many of us enjoyed (at least for the most part), and tweaking the effects so that we can enjoy the film without being distracted by the mistakes made by the otherwise wonderful restored DVDs. I, for example, can't properly enjoy the lightsaber fights in the original trilogy as much as I used to, because all I can focus on is how the lightsabers are washed out, with the cores being colored and the glow colors not as vivid as they used to be. Adywan has done a beautiful job of restoring these, and a whole lot more. Many of the things he is doing are making the films look almost exactly the way I wished they had looked when the SE DVDs were released, and he's adding a few of his own touches along the way, which overall, look fantastic.

There are many other fan edits that have worked toward creating a restored version of the original releases, among other things. This is turning out to be the best -- in my opinion -- of the edits that are dealing with the newer editions of the films. I see it becoming the definitive version of the film for me, as it holds true the closest to the way I want to watch the film. I know that my tastes may differ from those of other board members, but from the amount of attention and support this project has been getting, I know that I am also not alone.

Because of this, I am wholeheartedly supporting Adywan in his efforts, and am very excited about this project. If others are not as enthusiastic about the work that is being done here, they always have the choice to not follow the project. That does not mean, however, that there are not the rest of us who are eagerly awaiting its release. All the best, Adywan, with the fantastic work you are doing.

Take care,

Wow, you didn't send me an email about a week ago did you? (J/K)

Now seriously , I knew that when i announced this edit that it would displease the hardened OUT fans, but that's not the demographic that i am aiming for. Originally it was just an edit of the SE film that i wanted but it has evolved thanks to great input from members here into something else. i am not changing the story or adding things in just because it looks good. Things have been removed from this edit that were in the SE because they were just added by Lucas for eye candy and nothing more. The Jabba scene for instance has been removed because it was completely out of place in the film and should have been included only in the deleted scenes section.
This edit was always to be based on the special editions and not the original versions. There are plenty of great OUT projects out there so why would i want to create something that is already being done? After all there are a lot of SE Star wars fans out there as well as the purists.

Hmmm. You have it completely wrong there. Lucas changed things in the SE like Han shooting first, adding Rontos and silly scenes like the worker droid hitting the samaller droid in Mos Eisley but ignoring some glaring continuity & plot errors. Your example shows a fixed continuity error and not at all what Lucas has been doing with the trilogy. Does this also mean that you will be posting the same type of thing into , for example,Darth Editous' thread because of the fixes he has done in his amazing edit?

Like i have said previously, i listen to the input from everyone, good and bad, and if the consensus is that an addition or fix doesn't work , then it has either been removed from the edit or has been redone until i get it right.

The support & input i have received for this edit has been far beyond anything that i ever expected and for that reason i will continue to "screw" around with the saga no matter what your views are, which in my opinion were rude and uncalled for,

my view on this is that we have the original trilogy in a myraid of forms, from OCP's Classic Editions, Laserdisc transfers and the GOUT, we've got the Special Editions, we've got Deleted Magic (and Jambe's project), we've even got Read-Along's synched up to the movie, so why in the hell shouldn't someone tinker round to make their own version?!?

This is what's become so great about this site in the last couple of years. It's gone beyond simply being a petition site for the OOT, it's pushed people (myself included) to create some amazing pieces of work, and contribute the growing mythology of fan editing.

And Adywan, I can't wait for this one. This years going to be the best one yet for the stuff coming from this site

I don't get the whole "I don't like what is being done here so I will post in a thread I have no interest in and let everybody know that I'm not interested in this project but I will read and post and let my opinion be known...."

If you don't like what is being done in this edit, move along, there are a million projects going on in this site, I'm sure you will find one that suits you.

adywan, I think the work you're doing is amazing and outrageous(in a good way).

And you seem to be carefully changing things for story purposes as well, not just the "wow" part of it.

I actually think this was the type of "special" edition we never got from Lucas.

Keep up the great work man. I can't wait for the adywan ROTJ edition.

Neil,

Have you noticed that the name of this forum is "STAR WARS FAN EDITS AND PRESERVATION EFFORTS"?

Personally, I think Lucas can make all the Special Editions he wants, as long as he releases the OOT properly. If he ever gets over his "those versions don't exist anymore" issues, I think a lot of people will cool off and forgive.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

You could put a blue filter over every scene in the trilogy for all I care. That doesn't mean I have to watch it. That also doesn't mean I have to criticize your desire to want to do it, either. I might criticize the logic or merit of it, but as far as I'm concerned, you can do whatever you want.

If Neil doesn't like fan edits, that's fine. He doesn't have to watch them, either, though, if he doesn't want to. He has every right to criticize the ideas behind them, but if he doesn't like any of the ideas, none of the edits you make will please him, anyway. I know he's a big fan of the original theatrical releases, so he just doesn't like tinkering done to what he sees as perfect (or at least fine) already. And there is a good argument for that. But that argument pretty much negates something that a lot (the majority?) of people here think is fun.

Neil, there is a thread under "Suggestions and Ideas" that I started a while back that you might want to sound-off on. This site is about getting nice releases of the originals, so maybe your opinions about the merits of what this site has become might be more appropriate there.

I'm having deja vu right now. I totally respect Neil and his opinions. The man has some serious smarts about SW. But I disagree with him on this.

Hey Adywan, how is the color correction going? Maybe you could give us a mini-update to give us something else to talk about instead of what is becoming the usual?

I've almost finished the colour correction. there is a few shots i just can't get to look as good as i did the first time round so i'm leaving them til last. i've redone the pistol lasers so i'm almost back on track. i'm doing some new models test shots of TIEs & X-Wings for the final battle so i haven't really done anything else to the edit since but i will be doing some more this weekend.

Model shots? Awesome.

As far as the grain of sand goes, maybe you should include a scene from the GOUT. Lots of grain there.

Is there a possibility of seeing the Yavin gas giant in the background of these shots like in the game "Rogue Leader"? It made the levels seem kind of dire, as the gas giant was getting closer and closer.
