I am anxious to see this and the Building Empire docs, and have attempted to download @ Demonoid. However, after several days of waiting, both have reached 99.9%. Each has a small piece with an error and attempts to re-download... This has been going on for over a day now, and that last .1% always has something wrong with it. I tried to burn the Empire iso file with the 99.9% I had, but I couldn't navigate throught eh disc menu without the player hanging.

Note that these are the NTSC versions (ESB is iso, ROTJ is vob). Any idea when complete, correct versions will be available as torrents? Suggestions?

While looking on my backups I uncovered a clip of the falcon escaping the Death star. It is showing the falcon spinning through the shaft coming right towards the camera. It is nothing spectacular but I thought I would share. Also, Jambe I have some old video taped footage of the filming of the Mos Eisley entrance and Obi-Wan walikng onto the catwalk beside the power generator that controls the energy shield on the Death Star. I wil post these incase you can use them.

Here is the link to the Millenium Falcon Spinning footageMillenium Falcon spinning out of Death Star Shaft

Here is the Mos Eisley footage:

Sluggo is right. To my knowledge (and it's quite advanced don't ya know ), the shot you mention does not exist.

As far as I know the idea of killing off one of the main cast was abandoned before any shooting was done and definately before any effects work was completed. Even the early animatic (see 'Returning to Jedi' at 02:17:35) shows the Falcon speeding away from the Death Star.

Here is a page from TBones Universe:TBone's Universe

Because it had been so long since I had seen that page I thought it had a clip of the Millenium Falcon exploding, but it actually was presenting evidence against the idea that the Millenium Falcon was destroyed in the Death Star. I guess because it had been so long since I had read the article I was thinking I had saw something I hadn't. I guess you guys were right.

Just got a brilliant mail in by youtube inbox:

"You know, I can only imagine how great it was to have been part of these films, although I hear george can be hard to work with at times. As for you, jambe-dave-darth, maybe I am crazy or are you Dave Prowse, my fav green cross code man.
if not please ignore my last comments. Where did you get all these facts and snippets, may the life force be with you."

After finding out that the DVD from thewizard_7 was SPFX (and not 'the making of'), this cheered me up a bit.

Are you David Prowse?!

That's a shame about that ESB DVD.

after finally watching Returning to Jedi yesterday, my little review.

the docu is very well edited like for Building but what still amazes me are the reconstructed scenes. The different sources (audio, video, stills) are very well edited together in the film and you can almost feel how the movie was concieved by Kasdan, Marquand and Lucas.
and of course, I learned a lot of things I didn't know about the making of ROJ.

The most incredible info:

now, Jambe, what about a Raiders of the Lost Ark Project ?

Thanks Ash, glad you liked it and thanks for taking the time to let me know! A 'Raiders' project is on the list! Maybe 2008 in time for Indy 4. Depends how long that 'Star Wars' project takes.

FINALLY got the NTSC RTJ torrent completely downloaded after a couple weeks on and off. Seemed to burn to a DVD OK, but one of my players can only get as far as the menu screen. As soon as the documentary is selected, it locks up. Works good in my other two players though.

Is there anyone here who would be willing to send me a NTSC copy of this on DVD in return for blanks and postage? Since I can't do torrents, I really have no other way of obtaining it. I thought about watching all 23 clips on YouTube, but I'd much rather have this preserved on DVD for my collection. If anyone is willing to help out I would greatly appreciate it. Please just PM me or send an e-mail to bmadden72 at yahoo.com......Thanks!

I've been considering offering up a dual layer version of this in NTSC using the same methods I used for Building Empire to fix the PAL speedup. It might make it compatible with more players. I've actually already done the movie itself and am trying to learn the same program that Boon used for authoring because I really like how Boon's turned out (he did a great job). Oddly, I had none of the issues I had for Building Empire. The video conversion went perfectly (which I expected, since I used the technique that worked for BE) and the sound synched up perfectly first try. I've already scrubbed through the soundtrack and recorrected the slowed commentaries for those that were improperly slowed down in the conversion, but the movie soundtrack sounds perfect. This program is cool as heck, but still a challenge to author my first disc with it. I was again doing this just for myself, but if there's any interest it can go up in another torrent. A two and a half hour feature and DVD rom extras has to be encoded really low to fit on a single layer.

to spare you authoring time (if you are satisfied with my NTSC menus that is), you can do the following:
Use PGCDemux (freeware) to get the celltimes from my version (for the exact chapter points).
Use Muxman (freeware) to author a movie only DVD including the celltimes for the chapters. Use your video and your audio track.
Now you have a movie only DVD of RTJ with the chapters at the right point.
Now use Vobblanker (freeware), load in my DVD and replace the movie with your movie only DVD.

This will get you your DL NTSC version with the new audio but using all the already existing menus that look pretty similar to JDs.
Just an offer to spare you some time.

The compatibility problem with my SL version is because there are two files in the video_TS folder that shouldn't be there (I am really sorry about that). If I find the time I will re-upload a version that works for all players. Right now you will have to remove these two bmp files from the folder and it will work great.

Nothing about fanediting is easy.

I'd definitely be interested in that better-quality NTSC version. Good luck with everything!

Take care,

Jambe, I am not a member of Myspace, and can not view that page. Could you describe what is on it?

I'm not a member either, but I can see it.

It's a myspace page called "Returning to Jedi" and has nothing but the title and a film poster for "ROTJ".

Just thought it was odd.

With all the cool covers for these (especially BE) if I wasn't using the 3-piece cover set I'd be hard press to pick which cover to use for BE and RtJ!
