Inde film from the mid 90s, based on an unproduced Ed Wood script. It was the only thing that Ed saved from his apartment when it went up in smoke. There's no dialogue, it stars Billy Zane, and it's highly (and excellently) stylized. The soundtrack is also impeccable. It's really fucking great and it's a shame that it's been tied up in rights issues so that it's not commercially available in the States.

sure I know anno worked as an animator for miyazaki and studio ghibli, just thought I would point that out.
as for lion king it may have ripped off kimba but chistopher vogler worked on the script (uncredited), and i have read in his book that he got the idea from hamlet. ( the great shakepeare ripped off hamlet from a germanic source, I have read the original legend in saxo grammaticus) he said he also got the thematic thrust for the film from reading the works of joseph campbell, particularly the hero with a thousand faces.
“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

This movie sounds so interesting... No dialogue, Billy Zane and written by Ed Wood...? So bizarre, this MUST be good!

There is no lingerie in space…
C3PX said: Gaffer is like that hot girl in high school that you think you have a chance with even though she is way out of your league because she is sweet and not a stuck up bitch who pretends you don’t exist… then one day you spot her making out with some skinny twerp, only on second glance you realize it is the goth girl who always sits in the back of class; at that moment it dawns on you why she is never seen hanging off the arm of any of the jocks… and you realize, damn, she really is unobtainable after all. Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

*spoiler*
about the kid finally needing to grow up and leave the trappings of childhood (imaginary friends/adventures, etc) behind saddened me very much because I was RIGHT at that age when I knew it was true.

Wow, really? I'd be interested in seeing that. An Ed Wood script that's actually done well and is sought after? If only Ed was still alive to see that.
It's still filled with the kitch and humor of Ed Wood films, but the tone and art direction in I Woke Up are absolutely impeccable. It's an homage without making fun. Maybe I should make a torrent of it to seed on Demonoid so more people can check it out.
