I've never liked the workflow in Vegas, but that is really a personal choice thing.
If you want something F-A-S-T, install ubuntu linux as a dual boot and run cinelerra (it is free) and you may never look at premiere or vegas again.

Could you explain to me how you do a dual boit. I have never messed with linux. Do I have to have 2 hard drives or can I do a dual boot on one hard drive?
