::applause to Ron::

Well done, friend, well done.

Adywan, fuck the naysayers (especially the elaborate ones) and press on. When all is said and done, you'll have put however much time into making a great edit, and he (or they) will have put however much time into formulating ridiculous insults. Which party will have something to show for their efforts?

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Hey Adywan

I dont often post but after reading that e-mail I felt like I had to. Dont listen to it and dont let this guy stop you, one nutcase out of hundreds of people shouldn’t be the reason to stop anything! To send an e-mail like that and to then makes threats are the actions of someone with limited brain capacity or a low mental age.

If he was that bothered he would have to be sending e-mails like that to

1. Anyone who has made an edit
2. Anyone who has made a fan film
3. Anyone who has spoofed Star Wars

Hes got a lot of e-mails to write!!

The only reason he picked your work, after over 6 months of waiting and "biding his time" and not saying anything before is because you release a trailer which was near perfect studio quality.

Change is strange for some people and to be that obsessed over the original Star Wars film and to send this e-mail to you at this particular time is just a sign of JEALOUSY my friend.

Your intention is not to make a profit and you’ve always made that clear, Im sure your production will have a disclaimer stating this. Your intention is a tribute to a brilliant film and if this odd character has a problem with it he should go back to downloading pr0n and harassing small children or whatever odd things he gets up to.

Theres nutters all over the web but that doesn’t mean anyone should actually listen to them!

Keep it up mate and don’t let one moron distract you from an awesome awesome edit.

That's one of the wierdest email's I've ever read.....it's obviously some sort of joke or the guy is so delusional that he needs professional help....anyways, keep up the good work! I'm really looking forward to watching a new version of my favorite film!

If this scumbag is that bothered about fanedits of Star Wars, then why the hell come here in the first place?

Yes he might be a Star Wars Fan and like the films the way they are, but curiousity got the better of him, so he signup to the OT Forums, to find what?

You can clearly see from the titles of the forums

Preservation and Fan Edits >

Star Wars Fan Edits and Preservation Efforts

Discuss your Star Wars fan edits and preservation efforts. Review your favourite "alternative" Star Wars DVDs or share your own progress in saving the original cuts from destruction. Share your efforts to edit the prequels to your liking. Do not advertise bootlegs for sale here. Your account will be closed without notice.

This clearly stats the obvious to anyone that reads it, if this isn't plain enough then they shouldn't be a member of these forums.

He stats
STOP IT NOW before you completely destroy a film that we all love with all the garbage that you are adding in.

If he doesn't like what Adywan is trying to achieve, then he always has the option to watch the retail films on DVD.

This person is clearly in two frames of mind, on one hand he's slagging Adywan off for ruining the film, and in the other hand he's praising him!

I will admit you have talent and the footage that i have seen so far looks pretty good

This to me cries "Psycho" and needs help!

As for the ideal threats and insults to Adywan and the community, this is pathetic, childish and immature!

He mentions his childhood memories; this would make this person in his thirties or yearly forties, if he truly watched the trilogy when first released, which makes this email really disturbing coming from a person of that age.

He either is really jealous, because he can't do the things the editors do, or could it be someone with a grudge against the OT, someone who may have been banned and just used Adywan's efforts for a soap box for revenge against the people who banned them!

Darth Editous is right, he's made changes to his edit of ANH, why didn't this scumbag complain about that? In fact why hasn't he reared his ugly retarded head before now to complain about the numerous edits that have been released?

Either way this jerk has no excuse to be here on these forums.

I'm no arse kisser as mentioned by this imbeciles; I just enjoy watching the different edits that are done here by the people that spend their free time and talent to do so, with no profit in mind. These edits are distributed freely with only the expense of postage and packaging to the person sending them out in the PIF chains.

Yes I too remember watching the films as a child back in the seventies/eighties but they are a distant memory now, with each release of the films there have changes of some sort, put it this way look at how many changes there have been over the years by Lucas, for instance there have been colour alteration, added scenes, cgi effects and digital processes, who knows what the true edit looks like or should look like?

I'm not obsessed by one true edit of the films, I enjoy them all.

Adywan is just adding a little more to the films, it's his vision of what he (or should I say we) would have liked to have seen, and this person can't just slag off Adywan for this edit, Adywan has asked for suggestions and advise from quite a few people who have posted on this thread, all he has done is make them a digital reality, so this person can't just blame Adywan, but everyone for this realisation.

This person is just a disturbed, jealous coward that is trying to spoil it for everyone else and is just trying to take out his frustration out on Adywan. Please don’t pay any attention to him and carry on the work your doing, it’s not like Adywan’s hoping his edit will be picked up and distributed worldwide through LucasFilms or Fox for mass audiences to watch in cinema complexes. Don’t get me wrong I’m not putting the edit down I’m really looking forward to watching this and appreciate the effort Adywan is putting into this, but in reality it will probably reach 3 or 4 hundred people, maybe more at most who knows? But I don’t think it’s going to bite in to Lucas’s profits from what he’s made from the saga.

Keep at it Adywan, and don't let this get you down, I also live in the UK and support you 100%, and no I didn't contribute to your HDD, but will gladly help in a the PIF chain when the time comes. If this person wants another name to add to his hit list, my names Tony Denton and he can find contact details from my website below, if he wishes to do so!

I agree with all of this. 100%.

We ought to follow the advice we are giving Adywan and and ignore this guy and move on ourselves. Who knows what kind of thrill he (or she) gets from stirring everybody up.

I know, Adywan, that you’re months away from working on ESB but if you read the whole scene through now with my recommended changes I think you’ll agree this greatly improves the screwup that Lucas did to this part of ESB and you won’t have to do anything to ANH to explain the new dialogue. These are just my opinions of course but I hope you will consider these changes and also not adding anything to ANH before you make your decision. If you still want to add a scene to ANH, throw it in as a bonus or as Sluggo suggested as an epilogue after the credits have rolled by but please don’t add it into the film itself. I know my vote most likely won’t count but I personally don’t want to know Luke is Vader’s son until ESB. Improving special effects or adding technical scenes is one thing, changing the storyline is something else. The original trilogy in this regard is perfect as is, it doesn’t need tinkering. Just my two cents. Thank you, Adywan, as always you’re doing a great job. The trailer looks fantastic.

Dialogue well worked out there. I also disagree about the exposition idea at the end of ANH (bad idea).

I thought adywan's vision was a reworking of the whole saga so we would already know who luke is in ANH anyway.

I agree Lucas' changes are retarded and smack a little bit of arrogance like we would be too thick to figure out that Vader was trying to deceive the emporer so he thought he'd make it a bit more obvious.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Vader discover who luke was in the 'Splinter of the Mind's Eye' novel?

Why would anyone who believes this canard ever participate in a forum devoted to fan edits? Mr. Coward, go grab your Star Wars DVD. You got it? Okay, I just made a fan edit where I replaced Luke Skywalker in every scene with a construction paper cutout of Jar Jar Binks, and all he says throughout the entire film is "weesa free!" Now... put your Star Wars DVD in your player... see that? Nothing's been destroyed, it's all still there. You're an idiot.

ROTFLMAO!!!

Adywan, just ignore that nutcase, we should all do, please carry on, having the OPTION (yes, nutcase it's a choice, you don't have to)to see this color corrected and with fixed fx shots version of the movie would be awesome.
I wish I had a Kryptonite cross, because then you could keep both Dracula AND Superman away.

This one has me baffled, Man. How in the hell are you "ruining a masterpiece" or whatever? I mean, this isn't being released in theaters. This is why I don't understand the reason people get so up in arms about fan edits. If you don't like what the person is doing, then don't download it or request a copy. They have the option to simply ignore it exists. We're not re-writing history here.

What we do is no different than a DJ making a remix of a song. If a person does a remix of "Thriller" nobody's going to say "Oh my God! You ruined a classic!"

This scumbag, who obviously has mental issues, needs to get a life and quit threatening people on message boards.

I can't wait 'til he finds out I'm intercutting the prequels into a ANH. LOL! I'll be destroyed for sure.

Some fans can be wound just a little tight. Pay him no mind.

The only annoying thing about him is that he's likely been a gusher on more than one thread...and if there's one thing worse than anonymous emailers, it's those two-faced little bitches who smile to your face, then stab you in the back.

I hope the fact that you shared his "private email to you" with everyone has him literally angry with rage.

Anyway, lovin' the edits so far...keep up the good work.
Maybe you should try some more radical changes, like 3PO speaks with a german accent, or Luke has tourettes, or when Leia bends over to put the medal on Luke, her left boob could accidentally pop out of her dress. (My personal favourite. )

Adywan, continue with your hard work. After all the work you put into this project and the time it would be an absolute waste not to.

Adywan, I must ask... on the colour-corrected shots, have you desaturated those areas that should be white? It stood out a little for me on the shot with the droids and the rebels running past them, and the other 3P0-like droid - there seems to be something wrong about them having no colour at all.

No, i haven't desaturated anything apart from the blue of their uniforms. All i have done is remove the blue cast and brightened it up a little. That is one of the shots that it became apparent why the blue casting may have been introduced. Removing it showed up a lot of colour issues, or lack of them in some areas. The background colour would change from shot to shot on the Tantive IV so i had to so i had to balance that out. i intend to revisit that sequence once i am closer to finishing the edit and try to replace lost colours, by use of mattes with different levels of colour correction. that way i can correct these issues without having to worry about the background changing colour from shot to shot. i desaturated their uniform blue slightly because that is another issue with this transfer. they change from blue to grey quite often but instead of increasing the blue i decided to go for a more blue/grey appearance. Also their pants seem to change colour too. some shots they are grey, some tan and some almost purple and in that particular shot you mentioned their pants are blue. its really going to be impossible to restore this to what the colours would have originally looked like without a new transfer so I'm just doing it to what i think looks better overall

ha, I know what you mean about the tantive IV section.

it's an absolute bitch to color correct. there are blues and red casts all over the place. this doesn't include the fact that the troopers shirts change colour from blue to grey on a frightening basis.

I had a lot of fun that week ;D

@ adywan, question.

I'm making my own version of your star destroyer shot as the falcon escapes tatooine. but where did you get the star destroyer from? I'm having trouble finding them. I presume they're from ESB but I can't see to find it.

*EDIT*

I think I know why I can't find it.

it's in ROTJ isn't it?

when the shuttle is approaching the executor with escorting SD's and luke says something like. I'm endangering the mission, I shouldn't have come.

*EDIT*

*well it's not that scene*

Top notch job on the trailer, Adywan. I can't wait for the finished product.

Don't let Mr. Anonymous bother you. Just a bunch a hot air if you ask me. I do wonder if he is indeed a board member, and if so, who. A shame his ISP can't be tracked to he could be banned.

On the ending Vader scene, the more I think about it the more I like the concept of a cockpit shot with an Imperial officer. The ESB Emperor scene really would feel out of place, as it has a very different look from ANH, not the least of which being Vader's costume. Vader's TIE coming out of hyperspace and approaching Coruscant would indeed be IDEAL. If anyone can pull it off, it would be you. Best of luck.

I do have to admit, that the more i think about this ending scene the more i am swaying towards the suggestion by SomethingStarWarsRelated rather than the Emperor scene. My original thoughts to get around the costume issue was to have an electrical discharge in Vaders TIE when the other TIE collides with him and his Breathing mechanism would be damaged, then in the scene at the end you see the new costume fitted and the Emperor contacts Vader with news about his son, with only the first portion of the ESB conversation then new dialogue.

So it now looks like i'm going with the commander holo conversation. All i need now is for someone with an imperial officers uniform that fancies being in Star Wars......

Also i could really do with some help with someone who could help me with recording some new voices for the bar tender and maybe one other character

And i'm still on the lookout for anyone with a rebel pilots helmet for some quick shots of new pilots for the Death Star Battle

If anyone can help then please contact me as soon as possible.

We seem to have been on the same wavelength, Adywan. Assuming it wouldn't be too much work, do you think you could still try to put together that last scene with the Emperor? I'd love to see what you could do with and, and you might have to fall back on that anyway if the cockpit ending doesnt't work out.
Author

Look, I had a thought about this last nite and depending on what you guys want out of the shot/shots you could actually have Vader fly off post DS destruction and then actually use the footage of him and plapy in esb later on, It's not perfect but it's possible I guess. I do love the idea of the hologram in the tie while he's flying tho, just like Obi talking to Bail.

Well, I *will* say this: If that change were to happen, I picked that particular guy on purpose. You only see him in that panning shot.
And the whole idea behind this was that I'm thinking PT. This scene makes me think of the Jedi council room scenes.
However I don't have a plot point for this idea.

Dont know if this too late or been mentioned before and its probably totally impossible there anyways but why not have a hologram of the Emperor there maybe saying he's dissolved the senate before his hologram fades and then the meeting carries on. Obviously this means removing Tarkins line but it would get the Emperor into the film and theres plenty of holo footage of him available, possibly even using some of the seated Darth Sidious shots from TPM.

Worth mentioning anyways

It would be an interesting thing to attempt. I actually agree with the notion that there's a lot to work with... it's just the audio that'd prove difficult.
