OK here's what I've discovered - apparently DVDShrink doesn't like the file size of the original vob's to be anything less than .99 gig. Consequently in it's wisdom to 'copy' the disk it's seen fit to resize the vobs to fit within these dimensions and restructured the iso to suit. So what I initially thought was a 1 to 1 copy was in fact nothing of the sort. Because of this I'm guessing it's introduced issues with some dvd drives not reading the disc properly, probably percieving an 'illegal' vob structure. While this does not seem to be the case on any of the drives I've tried, I'm still willing to ship replacement discs to any persons affected.
Moral of the story: don't use cheap software for a one to one copy.
If anyone needs a replacement disc because of this fiasco, PM me and I'll sort you out.
