Yeah!

Sorry, I've been too busy to participate much, lately.

They goofed on the TMP movie, the Director's Edition was the only dvd. Do you have the link to the article? I gave up trying to dig it up.
As I see they are currently re-designing the whole website, that can be the problem. But I probably still have somewhere the articles (I downloaded them maybe a year ago - oops, it's actually 2 years ago now ), so if you want them, I can search for them.

Nah, it's not important, if it would be a chore for you to search out.

EDIT: By the way, I was searching out threads, for the next reply, and I noticed you asked about "The Cage", long long ago. It was released on DVD. Both the color and the color/B&W versions are on the last volume of the 2-episode-per-disc DVD set. Volume 40. I'm pretty sure its in the 3rd Season Box Set, too.

You are slightly right, it was a loooooooooooooooooooooong time ago, but I was actually searching for the complete show aired between season 1 and season 2 of the Next Generation, it had some behind-the-scenes footage plus a hybrid B&W/color version of The Cage, I've seen it only once on SAT 1 and it's title backtranslated from german was something like From one generation to another, it was hosted by Patrick Stewart. Do you know if it was released on some "normal" format ? (NOT laserdisc or something similar, laserdisc is something completely unknown in this part of Europe).
Also, the original series was never released here, and I don't want to buy it from some other country, because it would have no (usable) subtitles and my english is not that good (as you probably noticed from my posts )

I thought there was a VHS, of that special, but I don't find a copy on Ebay or Half. I don't know if it was ever released in PAL format.

According to Star Trek Discs it was on Laserdisc, but only in a Japanese box set.

Yeah, I know, you don't want laserdisc, but it needs to be preserved to dvd, so, maybe, someday... But the Laserdisc would have burned-in subtitles. If a guy could find the LD and also the VHS, then a VHS capture could be used to replace the subtitles (using a compositor). At the very least, the episode footage could be taken from the DVD.

I don't remember noticing any innacuracies in your English. Then again, many people who only speak English, don't write it very well, so any errors might not stand out.

The DVD's have the full-color version, along with the color+B&W version.

Seems the 2-episodes-per-volume TOS were only released in NTSC. You may not want to pay for an entire box-set for one episode, but I seem to recall someone mentioning that the PAL TOS had subtitles for many different languages. Amazon.co.uk only lists English, but they never seem bother to mention other languages. Maybe you could check amazon.de?

You mean the X-Mas as in Futurama? Heh. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.
Well, that's funny, I was actually watching that episode of Futurama the day you wrote this

Happy New Year friends.

Har. It was that time of year, but still a pretty good coincidence.

I believe the 2-disc set of the director's cut actually includes the original versions of scenes as bonus amterial on disc two. Assuming all of it's on there, it shouldn't be hard to edit together.

Yes, you're right. That's exactly what I was planning to do, that's why I have asked the question if anybody else did it allready (I don't want to waste my time with creating something what allready exists).

Well, there's still the extended version that needs to be recreated or captured.

I seem to remember reading that there was a line of dialouge not present on the First Contact DVD that was heard in the theatre, the line was from Kelsey Grammer as Captain Bateson of the USS Bozeman responding to Picard's order of attack, this was widely regarded as not being true until the line turned up in the HD version.

This can be the truth, I have a DVD with the theatrical version of "First Contact" and it is approx. one minute shorter then the 2disc version. But inclusion of only one line can not be responseable for an extra minute, can it ?

I said that in another thread, but then I couldn't find the line on the HD. Powerdvd remembered where I'd compared the dvd to the Hd... I can't explain it. I can't think of any other source than the HD.

Is your Theatrical Version from an unofficial source? That would be interesting.

I will be running a PIF of the version that CW does once I get a copy of it. If anyone wants to join in on the chain, let me know after I get the dvd.

I guess with "PIF" you don't mean the windows shortcut for dos programs Is it the system "I'll send you it for free if you send it for free to someone else" ? If yes, I would be interested.

PAL version is done.

Heh ? Did I miss something ? Or better said : how can I get a copy ?

Faustus would be the guy to ask, in Europe. But you probably already know that.
