Oh Christ, the whole series is full of Star Wars references...the dude they were rescuing was in room (aka cell block) 23 even, I think.

Also, I caught at least one Trek reference while watching it with my roommate a few months ago. Two of the guys are walking around, one younger one older, and the younger guy starts talking about red shirts on away missions. The older guy had never seen the show and, upon hearing about Captain Kirk, says something to the effect of "Sounds like one dumb captain." I just thought it was a funny referance since JJ Abrams (one of the creators of the show) is producing the new Star Trek movie.

It's obvious that the creators are star wars fans and like to slip in references. It's odd IMO tho that they give these lines to Sawyer, Essentially making him the star wars fan, He just doesn't strike me as that kind of guy. I guess tho that star wars is so widespread that just about everyone gets the quotes. btw, the 'red shirt' reference was way before JJ became involved with star trek...A sign of things to come?

Yeah, I laughed at the Star Wars reference. It's funny about the red shirts stuff, because on 24, all the guards with red shirts bite the dust.

Sawyer has called Hurley "Jabba" on more than one occasion I think. The red shirt thing was very funny. I appreciate these kinds of references. I wish season three didn't suck so much. Wednesday's episode wasn't too bad, hopefully they will recover from those six crappy ones and get back to the quality of season two.

Agreed, Lost needs to NOT be about Kate, Jake and Sawyer. We still haven't gotten any real answers as to what is going on with the others so It hasn't really been worthwhile, Get back to interesting story elements like Desmond already.

I find it totally fitting for Sawyer to get the Star Wars reference lines. He's the least likely character to say things like that, because there is a perception that he is an ignorant hillbilly, when in fact, he's quite well read, articulate and pretty pop-culture saavy.

Ok. There was a scene from the first series when Jinn and Michael were building the boat.
Michael says to Jinn "No, no, this one goes there, that one goes there. Got it?
To which Jinn replies with a grunt - ala Han and Chewie in ESB fixing the Falcon on Hoth!

Thought it was very funny the first time I saw it. The missus just looked at me as if to say wtf?

The whole concept behind Lost is beggining to be a 'little off the planet'. Im sure every viewer is starting to feel a bit lost themselves. Like as in 'where the hell is this thing going?'.

That one is classic. Lots of the other ones, even a non Star Wars fan might get, but nobody but the real geeks are gonna get that one.
