tell me genius, what do they use seals for mainly?
human consumption?
i think not.

Oh, I’m sorry. You said, “i don't see how someone who kills animals as a career has a life anymore worth while than an animal themselves.”

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren’t you required to kill an animal before consuming it?

this has what to do with seals?

thanks for comparing apples and shovels idiot.

Well, you clearly equate human life with animal life to some large degree. Do you now fault me for asking probing questions about the extent of that ethic? Or are you now saying that the genocide question was entirely too difficult for you to grasp?

i guess you figured it would have made you seem more cool to post a statement like you did and run off like a coward.

Hmm, well, just what you would like have explained about me? I’m willing to assist.

I’d think it would be obvious that a man, trying to make a living, and probably trying support a family, is of more value than a baby seal. Call me crazy, but I didn’t know I actually needed to say that. Do you feel better now that I have made this opinion of mine clear?

And as for running off as a "coward," perhaps I am one, but I am unaware of how my earlier post in this thread speaks to that. Perhaps you can explain that to me? You know, being the brave, wonderful individual that you are, I’m sure you’ll calmly explain to me all of your clearly rational thoughts.

As for trying to sound “cool,” I’m not sure what you mean by that. If you refer to the brief nature of my post, I did not want to detract from the lighthearted feeling of this thread by initiating a boring discussion within it. I simply thought that expressing my shock over your lack of ethical sense would have been sufficient. Though, I suppose when looking back, I should have anticipated your response.

I see that you have mastered the use of quote tags, LS.

hey if your all about animal slaughter for pointless purposes other than monetary reasons, so be it. but maybe you should use your hands like the animals do. go try that with a bear and let me know how it works out.

Well, I’m not sure of the man’s level of knowledge actually. I was defending him in the sense that his life should not be forfeit if he simply takes the life of an animal.

Otherwise, I’m a professional bear wrestler. Didn’t you know that?

You strike me as a very friendly and loving person, LS. I had no idea you were going to respond to my simple questions regarding your beliefs in this way. I take it that you’ll want to see my family raped and murdered next?

I'm not 100% sure, but that doesn't look like a baby.

Don't baby Harp Seals have a coat of white fur used as camoflague? That's certainly not white fur.

I am against baby seal clubbing, but I am for baby seal abortion. It is the Seal's choice guys, IT'S THE SEAL'S CHOICE.

Its the mama seals choice! What about the baby seal? Doesn't it get a choice? If that baby seal had been aborted (I agree with Starkiller, no so sure it is a baby) then he wouldn't have been around to get clubbed, which caused so many to get bent out of shape in the first place (I love Luke's logic! I swear it is by far the best I have ever heard. I was ROTFL when she wrote "you must be in highschool"). I mean, because seals are so much more animal than than chickens, it isn't even comparable! I like how human consumption makes it more forgiveable than external human usage. I am afraid we use animal parts for a lot more than just eating, and that includes everybody, even if you don't know it (unless you are obessed with not harming animals, then you might know what to avoid.

I showed that picture to some people at school and it got very mixed reactions.

I have to agree with some here that it is a slightly upsetting image. Expecially since we can all imagine what the next moment will look like. I think an image of a guy with blood on his jacket about to club a chicken would hold the same unsettling effect, and this is coming from a guy who would watch headless chickens run around bleeding to death when he was in his developmental childhood years. If the guy didn't have blood spattered on his jacket, and if he was pointing a gun at the chicken, or getting ready to behead it with an axe, the image would affect me very differently. I am not trying to say it would be better if he shot the thing rather than clubbing it, I am not saying anything really. I am just pondering the phycological affect an image like that has on us, and how different ones of us react differently than others. Kind of reminds me of PKD's Do Androids Dream

I like that because you don't like Tiptup's opinions he is ignorant and uneducated. You were the one being irrational. But I still don't see how the guys education has anything to do with it. Just because he doesn't believe some guy deserves the death penalty (and not just him but his whole family) for clubbing a seal doesn't mean he is uneducated. All the guy did was say he thought the murder and rape of his family in front of him was a bit of an extreme judgment. I think putting an animal life at a higher value than a whole family of humans is pretty ignorant and uneducated, but hey, that is just me.

Verily, I am put to shame.

Oh, and thanks for the defense, C3PX. Though if she wants to believe I am ignorant and uneducated, she is free to do so. It would be nice if she were willing to explain why she believes that about me, but I am still even more interested in an explanation of her morality and she is certainly offering nothing on that end. So, if she's quiting, I'll quit too.

Man, everybody's saying the best stuff before I get a chance to, so all I get to say is, "I agree."

There is no lingerie in space…

C3PX said: Gaffer is like that hot girl in high school that you think you have a chance with even though she is way out of your league because she is sweet and not a stuck up bitch who pretends you don’t exist… then one day you spot her making out with some skinny twerp, only on second glance you realize it is the goth girl who always sits in the back of class; at that moment it dawns on you why she is never seen hanging off the arm of any of the jocks… and you realize, damn, she really is unobtainable after all. Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.
