In America it is common practice to circumcise our sons, but why? You all say you are circumcised and that it doesn't bother you, and it shouldn't. But have you ever wondered why you were circumcised? If you are Jewish or Muslim it is not even an issue, you have your answer, but for the rest of us, why?

Honestly, it's a practice dating back centuries and most kids (who I assume make up the demographic here) born in the 70's and 80's were circumcised.

It wasn't until it became unfashionable with all this pseudo hippy bullshit parenting in the 90's that the practice started being frowned upon. Personally, I'm just glad I don't have to worry about...uh...maintenance.

I agree about the maintenance. At least, that's what I've always assumed is an advantage, but it's not as though I can really make an informed comparison. Growing up, I always knew I was circumcised, and I knew what it was, but I never really thought about it. After all, mine was the only penis I'd seen, so there was no reason for me to think anybody else was any different.

Anyhow, as I was always told, it was my grandfather who convinced my mom to get me circumcised simply because it was what everybody else did, and he didn't want me to be made fun of in the locker room for looking different. As it turns out, I never had any nude locker room experiences in my life, so I guess it was just a waste. ^_~
