I'm so looking forward to the films it's ridiculous. The "distressed" look is absolutely spot on.

Sadly, it will be released as two separated films overseas.

That is a bummer to be sure.

Since we talked about the Mr. Pink reference in the Tipping thread, I'm assuming you're a Tarantino fan? I LOVE his films, especially Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. Did not really care for Jackie Brown too much.

I also can't wait for this one.

I love all Tarantino's films. Especially Kill Bill. When a friend of mine was in Japan for half a year I asked him to buy me the Japanese versions of Kill Bill 1&2.

But what is this seperate stuff you're talking about ricarleite
Fez: I am so excited about Star Whores.
Hyde: Fezzy, man, it's Star Wars.

I'm a huge Tarantino fan, yes. My favorites are Resevoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill part 1.

I actually think I enjoy KB Vol2 better than 1 for some reason, although The Showdown at House of Blue Leaves I think is one of the greatest sequences ever caught on film.

I've enjoyed part 2 as well, but I specially enjoyed part 1 due to the 70s HK movies references and style.

I love the opening of Vol 1 with the "Shaw Scope" signs, the sound of the record needle when the soundtrack starts, and also the "siren" scenes when Beatrix sees someone on her list and she starts to recall what happened. In the words of people from Texas, "They needed killin'. "

Absolutely classic film making.

I knew it was going to kick ass when I saw the "and now the special presentation" cheesy 70s logo at the beggining, with mismatched optical soundtrack and all - although no one I know really did "get it".

The scene where Sonny Chiba is presenting her with the sword he makes is beautifully done, the soundtrack was perfect for that one. Ugh! Got to watch it tonight.

I wanted the japanese DVDs for Kill Bill pt 1... It has more scenes, and the whole fights in color and extra gore.

That's it. I'm having a Tarantino-thon this weekend. Could not find Pulp anywhere, so I may have to rent it. But I picked up From Dusk 'Till Dawn and will follow that with True Romance and Reservoir.

I'm having a Kubrick-thon this weekend, from Dr Strangelove to Full Metal Jacket minus Barry Lydon, which I do not own.

Strangelove, FMJ, and The Shining are the ONLY Kubrick films I can really tolerate. I think 2001 is vastly over-rated, even given the time in which it was made.

Barry Lyndon, literally almost made me run screaming from the room. My dad put it on one day and I was astonished at how, IMO, horrible it was. I'm talking Manos: The Hands of Fate bad.

Manos is quite good! Barry Lydon is the only Kubrick film after Paths of Glory I haven't seen yet. Can't be THAT bad.

2001, on the other hand, is one of my favorite films, included on my top 3: 2001, A Clockwork Orange, and Fight Club

I know this isn't related to the conversation at hand, but since we're talking about over-rated movies, I thought I'd bring this up. Am I the only one that thinks Blade Runner is vastly over-rated? I've managed to make it through once, but I don't think I could stomach a second viewing. Then again, I thought A Scanner Darkly was stupid as well, so maybe it's just that Philip K. Dick blows.

I kinda like Philip K Dick work, but not too much - I wanna see Scanner Darkly mostly because I liked "Waking Life". I am not such a big fan of Blade Runner myself, but it's not a bad film. The soundtrack is cool, I was listening to some Vangelis stuff right at this moment...

I just find it funny when some of the people who worship Blade Runner are the same people who say that Star Wars looks and feels dated.

Honestly, I didn't like Waking Life either. It just came across as college-kids-coffeeshop-life-philosophy bullshit.

It's not like "What the BLEEP do we know", which is filled with, well... crap. Crap disguized as quantum physics. It's a little bit more mature and open minded, it merely expresses ideas and lets you do the thinking - and it's not like it's enforcing concepts, it's more of a line-of-thought flow-plotted film, with short stories, short segments moving around. Kinda like an art museum, in which you look at each art and take what you consider to be valuable... I compare it to Kurosawa Dreams in that notion...

Never heard of it, although I would like to see A Scanner Darkly. Dick seems to have been quite troubled in his life.

Blade Runner - Only movie besides The Nightmare Before Christmas that I actually slept through, and I'm a Burton fan. So, SO over-rated.

Ric, PLEASE tell me you're not serious about Manos...

I saw it on Mystery Science Theater 3000, along with about 200 other horrible movies and that one took the cake! Although it was a great MST3K episode... "I take care of things while the master's away"

I was kidding of course, Manos is a terrible film, but I can seath through it without MST3K with no problems, it's fun to watch for being so bad. I love the mst3k version though...

"The master?! Bob Ficher?!"

"The master is in HOUSTON this week..."

"Oh Mike, I'm afraid..."
"Of what?!"

"Oh get up Torgo, I'm not gonna kill you."
