That was something that Jay had posted a while ago in another thread. That news on Digitalbits.com was gleaned from a post on theforce.net that came from an e-mail request for coverage from TF.n from, I believe, Rebel Scumb on this site. So, while it's new information for the Bits and TF.n, it's old news here. It was included in the letter to give it more weight and greater likelihood of being posted on those sites. It worked.

I know that I may be permanently marked for asking this question but here goes.
In what year was the original Star Wars trilogy released?
Author

You mean the original VHS boxset? Or do you mean just when the original movies were each individually released on VHS? To be honest, I don't even know. I wanna say my boxset has something like 1989 on it, but I'm not positive.

Individually, the movies were released on VHS in 1982, 83 & 84 respectively. The first official "box set" was released in 1988, with numerous variations following and culminating with the THX Faces edition in 1995.

Any way to find out what the differences are in all the sets? I've got a slip box that, when you pull off the cover, the side panels fold out and give stats on all three movies (awards, BO gross, etc). The outside of the box has the old SW logo that is red and looks like a keystone (the crawl effect where it is fading into the distance). Know which one that is?

Bossk, is that the one with the modified poster artwork on each, where the credit blurb has been moved to the back of the slipcase? If so, that's the first one. The widescreen version of that one came with a hologram of the original SW poster art and "From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I have the pre-hologram edition. I wound up purchasing From SW to Jedi separately after the fact. My set has a dark blue or black box (I'm kinda colorblind between the two) and the majority is a star field in the background.

Cool. I've got the original set. I can handle that. Plus I've got the rarer of the two faces editions that came out.

Yes it is. And I've also got the Die Hard trilogy packaged the same way.

Luke30, just because IJ is out doesn't mean SW will be out anytime soon. It's nice to hold out hope and that's what we're all doing, but don't hold your breath for any extended period. Not only are they not the same director, but they're not even the same studio (SW on Fox and IJ on Paramount).

I'd say that it makes perfect sense for them to release IJ on DVD now. It is ready for X-Mas, there is a 4th movie coming out later, everyone will want all four on DVD, they will release 4 by it self, & then they will release 1-4 together. $ $ $ $ $
That explain it?

That's what I thought. Just wanted to be clear. If that's the case, j105, go for it. Might want to crop out references I've made to specific people in it though (Roger Ebert if you're using that copy; or Michael Crawford if you're using the MWCtoys.com revision).

Let us know how it goes.

I was thinking that since this was the thread Luke started, he was talking about his article to the Hamilton Observer (is that the right name?).
