I think tipping is something that comes from good manners, but, conversely, I think it's just as rude for an establishment to expect anybody to tip them. A tip is just that. I surely tip all the time, but it's a gift, not part of their salary, not part of their expected pay. And, on the other side of the coin, even though this has never happened to me, I hate how establishments make people "pool" tips together and then divide them evenly. Screw that. Tips are based on service and somewhat on luck, and if you happen to be the lucky waiter/waitress who gets a $50 tip, then you should be entitled to be able to do with it what you wish.
