Info Wanted: Screen names and real names...

Hey all,

As I was outlining my various preservation projects I’ve got in the works, I started listing folks for a thanks in the credits. It occured to me I haven’t really seen any protocol for this and was wondering what everybody thinks about using our screen names vs. our real names. Granted, I’m just thinking in general terms and not about anything I am working on now (it’s way too early for that for my stuff).
Personally, I don’t mind having my name out there, but others undoubtedly feel differently. Thoughts?

i considered this same thing for the end of TCR, and the conclusion I came to is that whilst I have nothing against my real name being attached to my work, it's 'daveytod' that I go by on every message board I visit, and if anyone was looking for my stuff it would be daveytod that they try and find. plus when people here see 'sluggo' rather than 'bob jones' they know who it is

FINISHED:
The Sith Revealed - A Scrapbook
Episode III The Video Game - The Movie
24: The Missing Day
Star Wars - The Interactive Board Game DVD
Battlefront - Journal of the 501st
The Clones Revealed

email me for details daveytod AT btinternet DOT com

Or they will think that Sam Phipps has started to venture into the world of Star Wars preservations

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I think screen names are good for the projects. My full name was used in the end credits of Deleted Magic even though I specifically asked for it not to be.

So I'm for screen names.

My real name was used at the end of the Kill Bill Whole Bloody Affair for the little bit of work I did on it. I like my real name being used, it's kinda like real proof that you did it, not someone else whose screenname you are trying to steal if you ever want to use the edits as a sort of portfolio if you are tryin to get into hollywood lol.

I'm usually up for either or myself.

You were in DM as well? I'll have to take another look!

I think that actually works in favor of real names, at least if you want a bit of anonimity. One could put in some ones actual name (like Reginald Dillingham) and since everybody only knows whom ever by the screen name of, say,.. Artoo, then he is hiding in plain sight. Not that I'm hiding from anybody.

On the credits for 'Returning to Jedi' I put the screennames of several people, though a couple were happy to have their real names on there too.

Couldn't you just do a format like "Real Name (Screen Name)"?

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!

Yes I sent him the Biggs and Anchorhead scenes. Not much but I just wanted to help.

I'd go with both. Real name - "screen name".

Same thing happens on my MySpace page. I have no idea who half the people are because I know them as their screen names on here. Haha...

You could even do something like Joe "Starwarsfan" Public. My parents, however, wanted me to stick with a screenname, so for Trooperman's SOTDS I compromised with my real first name and and a mash of my screenname: Ben Musman.
