I guess, but I actually enjoyed the battles in that game.

I played FFX from 10 PM to 4 AM the night I bought it; I gave up on FFIV before I reached the first dungeon. Anyway.

I think FFIV is better than FFX, honestly, and I'm not saying this from a nostalgic view, either. I played IV after I'd already played VII and VIII.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

That said, Rare actually published four GBA games after being bought by Microsoft--Banjo Kazooie 3, It's Mister Pants!, Saberwulf, and Banjo-Pilot. (Banjo-Pilot was originally going to be Diddy Kong Pilot but the Diddy Kong liscence was dropped when Microsoft bought Rare.)

So, anybody here have a Wii Number? Mine is:

I'll get mine whenever I can and share with you guys, and register yours.

Well, after all that discussion about Zelda on the last page, I had to get my fix. I realized that with the number of games out now, I have only played 50% of the total number of Zelda games, less than that if you include the CD-i games. So I have acquired The Minish Cap and have been playing that. I have knocked out the first three dungeons already. It is a little bit too easy. Feels like it was designed for a younger age group. Kind of a shame. However I am enjoying it, it is very reminiscent of A Link to the Past and the good ol' days of SNES RPGs. Also the story of Minish Cap takes far too many Star Wars rips. The opening words to the game are actually "A long, long time ago" (not kidding). Then the whole Vaati and Elzo thing. It was painful hearing Vaati say, "Now I am the master" (again, not kidding). I don't know if the game was designed this way (in the original Japanese), or if the translators were laughing themselves silly the whole time as they added these lame references. It really makes the story feel cheap. Unless it is paying homage too it in a cleaver way like Monkey Island 2 and the whole Empire Strikes Back ending (I don't care what people say, that was the best video game ending EVER!), then it comes off as extreme cliche. Zelda is its own franchise and shouldn't need to steal dialog from other stories to make it stand. Link lives with his uncle, so I am just waiting for the part where it turns out Vaati is actually his father.

Don't be ridiculous, C3PX. Vaati is a Minish/Picori.

The Star Wars references probably come from the fact that the "Light Force" referenced througout the game was just called the "Force" in the original Japanese. And Link lives with his grandfather in Minish Cap. The only game where he lives with his uncle is A Link to the Past.*

*That's the version I played; if you're using the PAL version it might be different.

I live in NTSC land too. I just didn't pay that much attention. As soon as I read you post I realized you were right. The point is that he doesn't live with his parents (Links seem to have a long history of being orphaned). I was just saying the thing about Vaati being his father because all the other SW references. I still think it is extremely lame and that they should come up with their own lines. Chaltab, you have played this then, are the Oracles any harder than this? Minish Cap really feels like it was aiming at the preteen level. Who I guess are what a lot of the Gameboy stuff seems to be aimed at any more. I am heading toward the fourth dungeon and so far it has all be laughably simple for a Zelda game.

The Oracle games will make you want to throw your Gameboy against the wall on occasions. They're both much harder than the Minish Cap. (Though don't knock it until you get to the final battle with Vaati. That fight is pretty hard.)

Also, are you playing Minish Cap on a DS? The DS does not play Gameboy Color or Gameboy games, only GBA games. If you have any GBA model except the Micro, then it will be fine, though. In fact, there is a store in both Oracle games that only appears when played on a GBA.

Excellent! I will miss the beautiful graphics of Minish Cap though. I don't even have a DS, so I wont have the problem of not being able to play them on it.

phantom hourglass that is supposed to come out for the ds in the near future is supposed to be a sequel to the wind waker. I wonder if it will be a good game?

if the whole game times you like majora's mask then it will suck.

I also think it is entirely stupid that they mirrored twilight princess for the Wii. and I hate the gimmicky controller so I'll just get the gamecube version and it will be like playing a zelda as usual, as if no time elasped between the release of wind waker and twilight princess. Nintendo can never make a better Zelda than a link to the past that game is one of the best for the snes, along with final fantasy III,chrono trigger, the secret of mana. Just like they cannot possibly make a better metroid than super metroid or a better mario than mario 64.

Final Fantasy XII was overated, the ending of the story was a major let down. Looking forward to XIII supposed to be made by people who worked on VIII. Final fantasy XII had to be a major letdown because of all the people who left SquareEnix. I missed the music of Nobuo Uematso, yes they quoted some of his themes but not good without him. besides the fact that final fantasy XII happens in the tactics universe and should not even be considered a part of the series, just like final fantasy online. whereas as much as I disliked it final fantasy X-2 was canon and part of the series.

The guy who made final fantasy tactics can never top that game he made for the ps1 that game ruled. The story and gameplay were awesome for a tactical rpg.

Now i'm waiting for the release of final fantasy VI: advance.

wondering if final fantasy VII is an exclusive sony title or if we may see it as a nintendo gameboy advance or ds title.

I hope that PS3 remake happens. Final fantasy is what sold sony as a product to me, that is why I and countless other millions of people bought a playstation. that had to be one of the biggest blunders in gaming history, nintendo losing squaresoft. because of nintendo final fantasy III part 2 will never see the light of day, and only exists as a rare demo cart for the nintendo 64. They actually used the game engine on quest 64 what a waste. I will never forgive nintendo for that.

I may have to get a ps3 just for guns of the patriots to see solid snake's last hurrah.

FF12 is one of the biggest loads of crap I've seen! I could not belive that was a Final Fantasy game... I haven't seen Blue Dragon, but if it's a good game, then we'll know Square is in serious trouble...

The whole Final Fantasy series has been on the downward slide recently. Final Fantasy X-2, and Final Fantasy XI both were horrible as well.

Okay, I can't speak for either of those games, but if Adam Sessler, a man who hates all things Final Fantasy, liked FF12 (even if it has different mechanics than the old games) I think it might be worth a shot.

Every publication I've seen has loved the new mechanics, and if a timed gameplay mechanic worked in Majora's Mask, why wouldn't it also work in Phantom Hourglass?

This is ridiculous, dude. The Wii version plays excellent. The controller doesn't feel gimmicky at all, and the only complaint I have is a faint desire to be able to swing my sword with the press of a button. Otherwise, TP on the Wii rules. Aiming the bow with the Wiimote is made of awesome.

Um... They've already made a better Metroid than Super Metroid. It's called Metroid Fusion. And Mario 64 is a great game, but there's no way it's better than SMB3 or Super Mario World.

They actually used the game engine on quest 64 what a waste. I will never forgive nintendo for that.

Wait, wait, THQ publishes a crappy Imagineer developed RPG, and this is somehow Nintendo's fault?

The best games that I can't wait for on the PS3 are Gran Turismo 5 and Ridge Racer 7.

Well, I demo'd a Wii for about 30 seconds today with LOZ:TP. I got into the opening credits when the batteries died. The store didn't have replacement ones. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

They're STILL not in stores.

The demo really doesn't do the game justice anyway, Sage. Well, the fishing demo is nice.

Funny, isn't it? You can find a PS3 most anywere now, but Wii's are still near-impossible to find. Does this say something about the popularity of the PS3?

I hear that. I've been searching forever to no avail. Ebay is becoming tempting, but I can hold out for now.

I'll hold out for as long as possible. I can't stand this bundling crap. I just want the unit, an extra Wii-mote/Nunchuk and one or two games. Not 6. Totally ridiculous.

Anybody else play "Bully"? That's a fantastic concept right there. The only thing that drags it down is the ridiculously long load times.
