Anyone here Gundam fans? JI just recently got into it again--I just got MSG, 0080, 0083, CCA, SEED, and the 08thMSTEAM via torrents--pretty cool, since it's been really on the down low here in the U.S. the past few years---I'm gettin the MSG movies off Netflix and I'm also going to watch Zeta from Netflix also. I think the cartoon (with the exception of the new stuff like WING and G gundam) the originals and to a certin degree SEED are some of the best cartoons aorund period. MSG (1979) paved the way for modern complex story-lines in cartoons also, and was one of the first realistic-war-like animes. Which explains why they canceled it mid-run on sept.11. It, among Star Wars as my favorite movies, is one of my favorite Cartoons, ever-

Gundam is pretty decent, but I always felt was a little lacking in depth. It's like every series has to be 50 episodes long so they unnecessarily stretch them out. But I've only seen two of the series, so I may have no idea what I'm talking about. Other mecha series that are interesting and worth checking in to are: Giant Robo, Evangelion, RahXephon, Escaflowne, and Gunbuster.

I always liked Gundam Wing, mostly because the mech designs in that one were so freakin' awesome.

I saw Gundam Wing on Cartoon Network years ago and I've seen most of the episodes. I haven't seen much of the other Gundam series.

Yeah-But wing is probobly my least favorite----
If you want to see the original Mobile suit gundam, but don't have the stomach to sit thorugh all 43 episodes, theres the MSG:Trillogy, which I've seen on BTMON-Its quite good, as it adds new early-mid 80's animation to the late 70's animation, and puts al 43 episodes in a series of 2 hour movies, which are edited quite well, and are really dramatic and realistic---I have just finished watching movie 2 from netflix, I should be getting 3 tommrow, which is supposed to be the "return of the Jedi" of the trilogy, as #2 is the darker, more serious "ESB" of the series. Gundam 3 has that big, epic ending that you would have wanted in ROTJ, complete with a big space battle (made bigger by two opposing armys with dozens of battleships and hundreds of robots along with thousands of fighters) and a sword fight

I only consider the original mobile suit gundam to be of any worth and that includes the movie trilogy.

as an avid fan of anime especially classic anime I put it up there with Macross and Space Battleship Yamato as great classic shows.

The show transformers obviously borrowed elements from both macross and mobile suit gundam.

speaking of mecha brikhaus you forget to mention macross as well as calvary southern cross and genesis climber all three shows chopped up to make robotech.

The only real mecha anime I've watched lately was evangelion and that was psychological than mecha.

I used to watch the Gundam Wing and Mobile Suite Gundam, but lost interest.

I liked Gundam Wing up until that ridiculous uber-pacifist ending where the narrarator says that Earth never had a war ever again after the events of the Endless Waltz OVA.

I never could get into Mobile Suit Gundam for some reason. And G-Gundam was totally crazy, but oddly entertaining.

SD Gundam just frikkin' sucked.
