Check out this clip my friend made on YouTube:

Luke vs. Vader

I think it’s an interesting way to watch it. I wouldn’t mind seeing a DVD version of the whole trilogy like this, just for shits & giggles.

That was pretty good. The timing was practically spot on up until the end (right after "I am your father").

It would be interesting to see something like this. I wonder how difficult it would be though considering the difference in lines and scenes (Leia's interrogation in ANH would still have to be left out). I get the feeling it would look like an old Godzilla movie

That reminds me of a lot of the clips I watched in my "History of Television" class of shows from the early days of TV.

With the visuals in place, about 80-90% of that dialog is completely redundant, and earth TV writers used to work in radio, and old TV shows were just radio plays with pictures. Cinema stated without sound, and it was added in later, meaning that most Cinema writers were used to writing a for a primarily visual medium. This video is a GREAT example of the different approaches in writing radio vs writing film.

Brock died a couple of years ago. He was a great V/O artist, but I don't think he was cut out for Vader.

Yeah, I know. I love those radio dramas! I love to listen to them and imagine none of the movies ever existed, and imagine everything anew. They are very well done and have a very archaic feel to them. Like they are an authentic old radio serial. But Darth's voice has never quite sad right. I guess it is on par with old radio villains, but I really wish they had gotten JEJ or some black guy with a deep voice to make it closer to the movies. The only other voice that sticks out to me is Han's. The rest are prefect! Some (Luke, Threepio) for obvious reasons. How cool would it be if they would make special editions with Jame Earl Jones and Harrison Ford re-recording the dialogue for their characters.

Just what we need, more special editions.
