if I'm downloading and leave my abc torrent program to upload to other people that ask, does that make me a seeder? or a leecher?
do I have to do something to be classed as a seeder?

tellan, while you're downloading you're technically a leacher - but you're also seeding/uploading at the same time. Once you've downloaded the file and are only uploading, then you're classed as a seeder (even though you've been seeding already). Clear?

I downloaded the torrent file into ABC as well and it wouldn't start. I'm guessing that's because I don't have a demonoid login. I'm a major torrent n00b, hence the requests for a DVD-R burn.
I guess I'll wait until the dust settles a bit.

DE, I know you tried it and then scrapped the idea, but then it sounded like you were going to give it another go. Did you color correct the entire film this time around, or is the contrast/brightness still around the same levels as the DVD release?
Going to give it a spin tonight and enjoy this thoroughly!

Thanks for u/l-ing this to Usenet. I'm not a torrent guy, myself, so I depend on the Usenet community for most of my acquisitions. Is there a chance of you having time/bandwidth to post the DVD version of this there as well? Any efforts in that regard are appreciated, as are your own efforts on the "Story of" discs. I have the SOSW you created, and love it, and my kids enjoy it too.

I'm at the part where Luke just stormed out of the dining room and I wanted to mention something. One thing that has always bugged me is his line "I, uh, also thinking about our agreement..." It sounds like there's no audio of him adding the word "was" in there, not even quietly, with even the sound of the "s" at the end. Know what I mean? It has always sounded odd to me.

Yup, except for the first scenes of the droids on Tatooine (up to and including the first dusk shot of R2 in the valley) and the first shot as Luke runs out to watch the sunset.

I love the work you folks out there do to make the best/most interesting versions of these artifacts from our actual (or virtual) childhoods.
After all of the blatant money-grabbing our former master has done in the last decade, and some of the worst revisionist filmmaking this side of replacing shotguns with walkie-talkies done to some of the best memories I'll ever have from being a kid, it's gratifying to see people with genuine passion for these films, whether it's because of the artistry, the story, or even the technical aspects of what makes them so great (even in their "imperfect" form, eh, GL?), trying to present them in as fully realized a manner as humanly possible.
Cheers to all, and (in a vain attempt to drag this reply back to the thread...) to Darth Editous in particular, for your continued attempts to redeem the good in something so apparently easily swayed to the Dark Side...

My own de-SE'ed version has maybe 5% of the edits you did. I thought I was spending a lot of time on mine... wow!

BTW - A month of newsgroup access would only set you back about the cost of a blank and the postage from O/S. Some premium news providers offer a free trial up to a gig or so of downloads.
I just checked and Giganews has a 3 day free trial, sign up for that and you could have the edit within the hour if you are on broadband and it will cost you nothing.

Just download grabit for the PC or Unison for the mac, both are noob friendly. Install either and then just double click on the .nzb file (which can be found or created by going to www.binsearch.info) and it will download it for you. Couldn't be easier.
