That was perhaps one of the biggest "What the heck" moments in all of movie history. Family guy made a funny joke about this sometime ago.

Oh, I had forgotten how much I love that movie. The battle in the street is great. I love the part where the three convicts are blowing and everybody is flying away. It is things like this movie that make comic book fans seem like retards. I absolutely love it though.
