So, using the script fed straight into TMPGEnc, you won't have ~90 GB avi files floating around? Is that why it's better?
I have a project where I may need to do some 4:3>16:9 upconverting, as well as some cropping (so that everything has the same aspect ratio), and I am not very technically skilled here yet. (All I have is Womble and DVD-Lab Pro). I definitely prefer GUI software to scripting. I am just trying to figure out the easiest way to do this part of the process. Thanks for any help.
Maybe this comment would be better made on in the help forum. Sorry to get off-topic.

Yeah that's the main reason, I once had an almost 200GB uncompressed avi file of a 2 hour movie

I believe there is a GUI program called DVD Rebuilder (which dark_jedi mentioned earlier), that will convert to anamorphic for you without AVISynth knowledge. I remember people mentioning it in a thread about making the 2006 Star Wars DVDs anamorphic, have a search for it. If that doesn't work I can send you some example AVISynth scripts to do it, ADM pretty much nails it in his guide though.
Anyway back on topic.... yeah that Legend project I was doing.....still progressing....

Zeromancer - Thanks for the info, will check it out. Wonder if it converts matrixed surround information properly.
