Yeah, but if the next set is going to be in the next-generation high-definition format, they're going to want to release the Special Editions in that format, since we don't have them in HD yet (aside from rips of the HD showings on television). And if LFL views those editions as the "definitive" editions of the films, I would think that those would be the ones they would want to ensure got the HD treatment.

Except that there's still a format war going on. If they truly plan to release a 30th anniversary ginormous box set, they'd be best releasing it either on regular DVD or having one box set being HD and the other being regular DVD, but both have the same content. Until one format comes out a clear winner, or a player is released that can play both, they'd be taking a huge risk in releasing any of the SW movies in HD. Considering how long it took Lucas to release any of the SW movies on DVD, I'm willing to bet they don't put it on any HD formats in the near future.

And of course don't forget the digital Yoda in TMP, or plans to include "Yoda landing on Dagobah" on the "next edition" od ROTS (as told by Rick).

Wasn't the Yoda landing just a cut scene on the ROTS DVD? I think ADM reinserted that scene on his fan edit of the movie. So if Rick is telling us they'll be rereleasing ROTS and essentially just adding the cut scenes "into the movie", I see no reason to repurchase ROTS.
