As for the negativity against it.....I understand where it's coming from. It seems Hollywood is really out of ideas and they're just recycling old ones and doing a really shitty job of it too, so I understand why some people don't even want to look at Rocky Balboa.
We all expect great movies and sometimes we find them in the most unlikely places. I thought for sure this movie would bite big time and was just an aging actor trying to get into the spotlight by milking the role that made him what he is, but I forgot one thing....Stallone's movies have always had a lot of heart...even some of the bad ones. Who's to say Rocky's journey had to end after the first one? Some of the Rocky movies were a bit much (4), but even at their worst, they were still VERY damn good. I used to really dislike 5 and I've been thinking about it a lot lately with this new one on the horizon.
There's a scene in 5 between Rocky and Adrienne where Rock is all pissed and disappointed at how everything's turned out and Adrienne tells him that he won all those fights with heart. That scene just keeps sticking in my head for some reason. It never did before, but it does now. Don't know why. I think maybe some have become so cynical of everything that's come out of Hollywood that they can't recognize a good movie when they see it. I've certainly been that way, but I'm giving this movie a chance. Rocky got a second chance at the title, didn't he?
Sorry for the long and somewhat corny post.....the Rocky movies have always touched a nerve with me. There's something about them, ya know?
And I'm not getting soft on Hollywood either....they still make shit films.....and Lucas, the SE, the PT, etc still blow chunks no matter how many second chances they get.
