(Please correct me if i'm wrong on this)
Mark:
These disks were the "5 Star Collection", which were silver pressed proffesional looking releases from Japan. They put out a lot of these kinds of releases (a friend of mine got a Sin City one like a week after the movie came out, but it was a cam and everyone's head was missing) "The New Hope" is probably just a translation error, nothing deliberate.

IIRC, there were some pirated asian discs that called Ep. IV "The new hope" on the cover, instead of "A New Hope". So they probably also put it in the menu as well. As InvaderTim said, its a translation error.

I was just kidding guys. Sorry for the confusion.

Anyway, after burning them, seems all my DVD player as well as my burner cannot read them at all!

Grrrr,
This is exactly why I hate the internet. Sarcasm and kidding-ism is completely lost in the type-itudeness of the message.
I've only downloaded ANH, and haven't had any problems with the trailer. Haven't burned it though, so I have no idea if there are problems with that.

how are you burning them? i have noticed that the files aren't contained in a VIDEO_TS folder. If you are burning the files direct to disk without adding them into this folder then it won't play in most DVD players.

open nero and select "dvd video" then drag all the files into the VIDEO_TS folder on the left hand box and burn. Played perfectly fine in all 3 of my dvd players, or...

create a VIDEO_TS folder and drag the files into it. Use dvdshrink and import the video. then create an ISO image file and burn with dvddecrypter or your usual burning program

Used Nero. Just like you said. I have done it a thousand times. I dunno!

Sorry about the joke. I thought it was obvious.

Could someone post the "Star Wars Special Edition Making of Documentary DVD"? Thanks.

EDIT: I'm getting desperate so here is my idea. Someone post this and Dark Jedi's FACES Trilogy and I will post all 6 Star Wars movies in 720p x264 format. Like I said, I'm getting desperate.

Hey. I downloaded those 5 Star SEs, but there's missing at least one part from SW. It's right when they cut from R2 to the first time we see cantina and the alien's head comes up into the screen and Cantina Band starts playing. Well, in these the alien's head is already up when it cuts to cantina. I haven't looked the rest of the film yet, neither ROTJ. TESB looks fine...

Where can I obtain these TB SEs? And are they even better quality than these LD-rips?

And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.

I don't know about the TB SE, but I'm pretty sure that Dark Jedi's LD rip of the '97 SE is on myspleen. Put it together with their bonus disc that has the trailers and making-of documentary, and OCPMovie's Special edition Hype, and it makes a pretty good collection of Special Edition material. Don't know if there are still any seeders on these, though.

I think that mine is the Dark Jedi's 5 Star LD-rip.

The 5-star release and the Dark Jedi Release are different sets. The 5-Star release was done by Asian pirates and the DVD menu screen says "The New Hope" instead of "A New Hope". Dark Jedi did his own LD transfer later on. The Menus were done by Boba Feta, IIRC, and are very well-done.
Another difference I just thought of was that the 5-Star release has DD 5.1 sound, and foreign language subtitles, and the Dark Jedi release has DD2.0 surround.

Does anyone have the "TB Release" SE Trilogy? I've searched high and low for this, and I can't find anything.

Oh, and do these have burned-in subs? What language? Crawl language?

most people who have the TB release (myself included) have reported CRC error and are unable to copy them, I have recently been able to rip the main title from the discs but I havn't tried copying them recently.

The TB has an english crawl, and the subs are not burnt in but are soft subs in english.

The TB has a number of problems (missings/corrupt frames, squashed picture and bad starfields), so I am currently working on a best possible version of the 97 SE, see here

Hello everyone. I'm new to the foruns here. Been looking everywhere for the Dark Jedi Star Wars Trilogy '97 dvds set (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/russdawson/gtf/dvd/SE/dj.html) or the Jedi/Feta Star Wars Trilogy dvds set (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/russdawson/gtf/dvd/SE/jedifeta.html). I have no access to usenet, so i was wondering if someone could help me out. I also checked on myspleen but had no luck.

Thanks a lot for any help on this!

Also, a huge thank you to all the incredible people here and their amazing work! Cheers!

Versions of the SE from much better sources are currently being discussed in this thread.  http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/1997-SE-DV-Broadcast-Info-Discussion/topic/10964/

I suggest you join in there and see what is available.
