Are there any in Brazil, Ric? What other franchises are there? I always love hearing the differences between the American and "foreign" (to me) versions of fast food, ever since the conversation about the Le Big Mac and the Royale with Cheese in Pulp Fiction.

There's Pizza Hut in Brazil for about 15 years and it's quite popular, although they closed a lot of stores about 5 years ago. I used to work close to a Pizza Hut and I would bring one home every thursday. My favorite is the Super Supreme, but besides that one and pepperoni, all the other flavors are local ones, including a local cheese called catupity.
There's McDonalds since the late 70s... Although some of the hamburgers are not the same... Big Mac is called a Big Mac, but a Quarter Pound with Cheese is called a "Quarteirão com Queijo". The word quarteirão means "street block", so it's a nonsensical name ("com queijo" meaning with cheese). McDonalds is huge here, almost as popular as in America... The small differences are: you can order fruit juice or Guaraná soda with your burger
There's Burger King since 2004, they started small but they are opening a lot of new stores, and putting ads on the TV. The burgers are called the same...
What else... We used to have Arbys here in the mid 90s but they closed. Same for KFC, there aren't any anymore. I've seen only one Dominoes store, in my home town, I don't know if there are any others...
We have local franchises as well, such as Bobs (burgers) and Habibs, which is a popular fast food franchise with an arab-food theme - although they serve burgers and pizza as well. Habibs is spreading into other countries as well, they would open a store in America, but picture this... an arab themes fast food chain store... set to be open on September 12th, 2001. Needless to say, they gave up and closed the location, moving the store's logistic and plans to Argentina.
