Dominoes or Pizza Hut?

I chose Pizza Hut for the same reason I like McDonald's. People ask "Why do you like McDonald's? They don't taste like real burgers." EXACTLY. If I wanted a burger that tastes like something I could make at home, then I'd make one at home. And I do that from time to time, and they're darn good! But if I want that "fast food goodness", I go to McDonald's.

Pizza Hut to me is the fast food of pizzas. It is tasty, plain and simple. That butter on the bottom of the pan crust with a slight crispiness -- yum! Now don't get me wrong. This isn't "real" pizza. But it is very good for what it is. If I want real pizza, I know where to get that (and it ain't Dominoes or Papa John's) -- or at least I did before I moved to Atlanta!

Well said.

I was craving Pizza Hut so badly today I fired up their store locator and found one bout 4 miles from where I work and did the lunch buffet. All you can eat pizza, breadsticks, and soda for about $8.75 with tax.

Pizza Hut is by far my favorite american fast food franchise, but it has been a while since I last had one, I'd say a full year... I'm trying to control my eating habits so it might be a while since I have another one...

Yeah, the sauce goes well with that crust.

Pizza Hut. Their pan pizza is extremely good and the meat-lovers is an amazing taste sensation.

However, both pale in comparison to a good Rocky Rococo pizza.

Are there any in Brazil, Ric? What other franchises are there? I always love hearing the differences between the American and "foreign" (to me) versions of fast food, ever since the conversation about the Le Big Mac and the Royale with Cheese in Pulp Fiction.

I like Pizza Hut's thick crust pizza the best.

I went to a couple Pizza Huts in Korea when I was stationed there. Same taste, but they had some pizzas you'd never see in the States. One pizza had sweet potatoes around the edge of the crust or something crazy like that.

Yeah, Colorado is pretty crazy right now. People are stranded at the airport and hardly anyone is driving on the roads. Looks like the worst is over though and flights might resume even before tomarrow at noon.

Gonna have to go with Pizza Hut on this one, better service, food, etc. Though as far as all fast foot joints go I'd go with Sbarro's!

Pizza Hut wins in this by default as Dominoes is absolutely the worst pizza I've ever had in my life. Period.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Geez, screw all of you. I voted for Dominos! A lot of Saturdays when I'm at school, I drive down the street to the local Dominos and get a pineapple pizza and breadsticks and chow down in my apartment. Good Saturday. I notice I'm not the only Dominos voter, so why aren't the rest of you (that one other guy) speaking up?!

That makes three of us, Gaff! I love Dominoes, especially their Hawaiian pizza!

Man, maybe we're related or something...

Actually, I would have chosen Little Ceasers. I don't know how big of a chain it is outside Wisconsin but you can't go wrong with a massive single topping pizza and a huge bag of their uniquely delicious breadsticks for $7.

With that said....I chose Pizza Hut because it just plain tastes better to me.

Hey look, a bear!

That was me, I was too busy to respond at the time, so I just voted and came back.

I've never been a fan of the sauce that Pizza Hut insists on using, and every time I get a pizza it always has too much of this sauce for my taste. Might just be a few bad links in the chain, but every Dominos pizza I have gotten is perfect.

I'd choose Little Caesar's if it was an option as well, though they pulled out of the south a few years ago, the only one I know of within 200 miles is the one inter-twined with the run-down K-Mart in Lumberton, which is a considerable drive.

Edit: looking at the store finder, I was correct. :-p

I second that, I HATE Dominoes pizza too. Pizza Hut is pretty good, but i love Papa John's and also Cici's.

I used to eat Dominoes constantly back in the day before I had my driver's license. That's the ONLY reason it was acceptable at the time...delivery. The town where I lived had only 1 or 2 places that delivered, and believe it or not the other place sucked even worse.

To the Little Caesar's folks, I agree. That pizza RULES and the bread sticks. Sadly, the franchise has all but disappeared here. They were selling "kits" as part of a fund raiser my kids did in school, so my wife bought two of them and it was great having their pizza again. Wish they'd do more of those...

There's Pizza Hut in Brazil for about 15 years and it's quite popular, although they closed a lot of stores about 5 years ago. I used to work close to a Pizza Hut and I would bring one home every thursday. My favorite is the Super Supreme, but besides that one and pepperoni, all the other flavors are local ones, including a local cheese called catupity.

There's McDonalds since the late 70s... Although some of the hamburgers are not the same... Big Mac is called a Big Mac, but a Quarter Pound with Cheese is called a "Quarteirão com Queijo". The word quarteirão means "street block", so it's a nonsensical name ("com queijo" meaning with cheese). McDonalds is huge here, almost as popular as in America... The small differences are: you can order fruit juice or Guaraná soda with your burger

There's Burger King since 2004, they started small but they are opening a lot of new stores, and putting ads on the TV. The burgers are called the same...

What else... We used to have Arbys here in the mid 90s but they closed. Same for KFC, there aren't any anymore. I've seen only one Dominoes store, in my home town, I don't know if there are any others...

We have local franchises as well, such as Bobs (burgers) and Habibs, which is a popular fast food franchise with an arab-food theme - although they serve burgers and pizza as well. Habibs is spreading into other countries as well, they would open a store in America, but picture this... an arab themes fast food chain store... set to be open on September 12th, 2001. Needless to say, they gave up and closed the location, moving the store's logistic and plans to Argentina.

Pizza Hut because it tastes better. Though, Dominos gives me more convenience due to where I live.

That is interesting about the popularity of McDonald's. I remember about 20, 25 years ago when I was only a little kid...going to McDonald's was like a big treat for us. Now, it's like meh. Take it or leave it. I rarely eat there for lunch any more, although I do confess to getting breakfast a few times a month (their breakfast food is so damn good). I actually worked there for about 6 years in highschool and the first couple of years of college. It's popularity is definitely not what it used to be.

The menu selection there is improving. You can get fruit juice at most of the ones around here, and also fruit salads an a bunch of "healthier" alternatives.

I lost my taste for BK quite a while ago. I started to think that the burgers tasted/smelled like window cleaner or something, though their dutch apple pie dessert is fantastic and so are their onion rings.

Arby's - the food is good, not great. However I have a lot of good memories about it because my mom used to take me there a lot when I'd go grocery shopping with her. Get the roast beef sandwich and apple turnovers.

I'm trying to cut the burgers from my diet, but if I had to chose between BK and McDs, I'd pick BK. Way better.

McDs also had a quick decline on their populatity. While still quite popular and easy to find around here, it's not like it used to be in the 80s - maybe because I was a kid back then. Now they offer water (they didnt back then!), fruit juice (although artificial), salads and stuff like that, and even apples. They started serving breakfast here a couple of years ago, but I cannot imagine eating breakfast at a McDonalds. Yuck.

The best burger and the worst burger I've ever eaten were both in the USA...
