Ok well I have encoded the whole thing. Now only one problem... I need a recommendation on which Dual Layer DVD-R to use please. Anyone in the UK found a good brand?

In the meantime for the QC Team I am compressing the DVD to a standard single layer disc using DVD2oneX. I hope it works! So your job is to spot mistakes and errors rather than judge the quality of pictures. Thanks!

Ell, very cool cover. Where is that poster art from, I don't think I have ever seen it before?

I will be sending out 20 copies of 'RTJ' when it's done, you will be one of them Ell.

The bad news is, it's going to be delayed slightly (again). I am now away from home on my Christmas break and will not be home until the 5th January 2007. I will beaver away in that second week and get the discs out.

Rest assured, as soon as I am able, I will be getting it finished. In the meantime, if you have some spare time, I would love to see some covers and disc art.

Ell, is that "setting up for the prequels" blurb on the back a quote from somewhere?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Of course! Blimey, I should have known that. I had it on my Amstrad CPC464 and my Atari ST.

I would love to see some serious covers for the project too.

That's a good one Sluggo. Add some text and you got a winner there.

I hate to be off-topic but Sluggo can you hook me up with a hi-res version of the artwork you used for your Returning to Jedi cover? Once again I do apologize for being off topic.

has anyone thought of using the revenge of the jedi poster to create a cover for this release,

or even some of the rarer japanese artwork for return of the jedi posters.

Were not there some rare art in the star wars poster book by sansweet?

I have always loved ralph mcquarrie's artwork and also wondered why more people don't use it to make dvd covers or dvd menus. Is it because It is overly used?

I love his production artwork for return of the jedi and there is some stuff he did that did not make it into the final film as well as Joe johnston's stuff too. Some of it ultimetely was reused in phantom menace and revenge of the sith.

Hiya Jambe, I hope you can hook me up with a DVD once this goes live. But I'll try and remember to wing by here every now and then so I don't get left out.

Could someone be kind enough to send me a DL copy? I'd be happy to PIF in the States.

My PM inbox is full so I am unable to reply to individuals, sorry. Though here are some answers to some of your questions:

- I didn't end up using the Wonder Column CD directly, only for research purposes. No, it won't be included on the DVD. I got it on ebay, so that's the best place to look.

- 'Returning to Jedi' is not finished yet. I am away from home until the 2nd Jan 07, but will work hard to get it released asap.

- I will be making an initial 20 or so copies of 'Returning to Jedi' and sending them out to those that have helped during the process of making it. I will then pass it to the usual channels to get a torrent up and running. I may even make it available in Xvid segments (though that might be later) or on youtube.

- I will not accept any money. Please read the FAQ on page 1 of this thread before asking me any questions.

- The DVD should be single layer compressed using DVD2oneX.

- No official cover/disc art has been completed. I am still waiting until I see my favourite design.

Thanks, and a Happy New Year to you all!

Jambe, does this mean you won't be making a DL version? From what I've heard DVD2oneX isn't very good at compression either.

Also, I'm working on a cover - though I doubt it will become the official one. I just want to try my hand. Would I be able to get in on that first 20? I'd happily spread the RTJ love to other Aussies.

Thanks for the reply, Jambe! I appreciate it.

Also, with regards to making covers for this -- where would you all recommend going to get various cover elements (various logos, photographs, concept art, etc.)? Some of the covers that I've seen for Building Empire and other projects have included some images that I don't know where to find, especially in high resolution (and legally). Any guidance for aspiring cover artists?

Take care,
