Yeah that does seem very similar. I've realized in my short life so far that most things are really borrowed from other movies and stories and then re-interpreted, something one can say about the original Star Wars if they want to I guess... but the way you describe it, it seems to be just an uninspired remake of a better movie, and from reviews I've read, it's not even presented or re-presented in a good cohesive film... oh well. It was obvious to me that it was just a shoddy attempt to cash in on the harry potter and lord of the rings success lately. In the end, I think its success should be determined by its execution and if the execution is poor, that makes the rehashed elements stick out more awkwardly.
