All right, my computer's back online. So I should be able to upload a new set either tonight or tomorrow...

ATTENTION:

I'm sorry, but due to severe personal issues that constantly interfere with my work, I must put the project on hold until further notice. I apologize for any inconvience.

GOOD NEWS:

I have conquered my issues for the time being, so now I feel like I can continue Paint Wars. I will post Set 14 on Monday.

That's great news, ZigFried.

Paint Wars really is A New Hope.

Great stuff so far.

Honestly though, I really don't feel like working on this anymore. Now that I've got Broadband, a new favorite game of all time (DOOM), and the Thief and the Cobbler, I spend all the time playing DOOM 3 online and watching all the wonderful versions of the Thief.

The only way you'll get me to work on this again is:

1. You remove all my procrastination posts, because they don't look very good.
2. You create a petition signed by at least 75 people asking me to finish this. Because 2 or 3 isn't convincing enough...

If you're going to toy with people like that pretty soon most will come to resent you for it.....

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

I thought that Paint Wars was pretty funny and would like to see it continue, but these demands are stupid. Remove procrastination posts because they don't make you look good? Posts like this don't make you look good either.

All right, I'm sorry for posting that. But I really am not in the mood to continue it right now. Maybe I'll make up for it by posting about 20 sets over Christmastime...

WTH?! You're stopping work on this in favor of playing an expensive tech demo and watching all the edits of Thief and the Cobbler over and over? You've got to be kidding! You should be able to remove your posts (they are yours after all).

You're either totally serious or totally jacking around. This looked like it was going to be an awesome retelling of the OT and now it seems that it was nothing more than a distraction for you.

So, how fun is it to get through endless levels of Doom 3 doing the same thing over and over again? If you're going to play a tech demo, at least play something like Lost Coast that actually features new tech and different things happening throughout the game. It may only last 15 mins, but it's an awesome 15 mins.

EDIT: Looks like I posted long after your reply. I do hope you continue this. It's a lot of fun to see it.

Ingo, if you don't want to do this anymore, then don't. But don't come up with petty demands. There have been over 800 views of this thread, so people are enjoying it. But don't expect a petition.

Like you said, Christmastime would be a good time to do more drawings if you feel up to it. If not, oh well.

Yes, I'll continue this at Christmastime. But right now, I'd like to enjoy my new Broadband...

Maybe you bit off more than you could chew by constantly uploading 10 images a day. Maybe you just got burned out. Whatever, it was a great idea while it lasted. I hope that you can schedule time soon to continue this. It's not like we're expecting it to be done overnight, or by the end of the year. Take your time and do it right. It would just be a shame if this project would die completely. You had a good thing going man, I'm just going to attribute this to temporary burnout. Rather than upping 10 images a day, maybe cut it back to 7 images a week (or one a day). That should still give you time to play Doom, watch Thief for the 19270th time, and have quality time for other things. Just trying to be helpful as I really loved this project.

damn, i was hoping someone would take this brilliant project and sync it up to the movie soundtrack! that would of been excellent.
take your time! don't burn yourself out.

All right. Now that I'm all snuggled in with Broadband and have had my share of the Thief, not to mention solve my personal issues, I'm ready to get off my fat, lazy ass and start working on this again.

All my snob and procrastination post are now defunct. Expect a new set tonight...

Oh what's the use? I was just bored out of my mind when I started Paint Wars, and I had brought a terrible undertaking upon myself. So I quit. Forget it. Now I have a lot of other stuff to keep me busy, and this project was just too complex for me right now. Besides, if I continued doing this, I would get sick of Star Wars, and fast. I apologize for any inconvience.

Ah ok...whatever...what a shame. Do us all a favor and stop saying one thing only to quickly do a 180 and say something else...

I feel pity for you kid....You are seriously messed up. I don't pretend to know what's wrong with you, but something clearly is....

Your constant emotional swings and an inability to finish what you started will make your life a difficult one....good luck kid. I hope you get the help you so desperately need....

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

I totally understand Zig, what starts off as a bit of fun can turn into a chore after a while, especially when the enormity of the task starts to sink in. (I reckon a minimum of 1000 drawings would have been required to finish it)
One thing I learned is to try not to 'think out loud' on the boards. I flip flop daily between total motivation and confidence to despair and back again, but I tend to post when I am in my motivated mood.

Thanks for what you did so far, it was a lot of fun to get a different spin on the whole SW thing, and if you ever get bored again feel free to do some more

I too know what it feels like to have something go from fun to work... it sucks.... then it doesn't.... then it does... and so on. However, to also agree that having a posted running conversation with yourself is not productive. Thanks for what you did. Good luck.

What are some people's problems here? ZigFried doesn't really owe anyone anything. He took time to start a creative, intriguing project, but it's obviously a massive undertaking, and it's understandable to get overwhelmed. Even if the dude's attitude may not be the best, there's no need for browbeating someone who's doing something for fun (which I imagine must be made more difficult when it's being scrutinized on the internet). Does this really need "waaah, you broke your promise!" Is there a rule that you must be true to your word and unwavering when working on a fan project, or you shall be exiled? And most threads like this contain daily changes and delays, so wtf. It's one thing to get excited over something new, but it's another to act entitled to it. You're acting like he kicked your puppy. If he finishes it, great, it looks like it'll be really cool. If not, it was fun while it lasted. As I'm sure most people know, shit happens every day and not everything can be easily as accomplished as one would like. As George Carlin once said, "Relax... have some dip."
We don't have enough road to get up to 88.

Well we made it past 10% and I think later on especially in the space battle sequences lots of cut & paste and image flipping could have saved a lot of time and effort. The idea is/was a good one and I hope someone with a talent for drawing in the same cartoon style will pick up where this left off.

Honestly though, beginning a project through boredom is a recipe for disaster, and when the enormity of the project dawns on you it can be a little overwhelming. If there wasn't the motivation there in the first place then what will drive you on ? You don't owe anyone in this forum anything so don't ever feel obliged to carry on drawing (but asking for 75 signatures was a seriously bad idea) and the most important thing of all is that you keep your love of Star Wars rather than coming to resent it somehow.

Hey Ziggy, I finally got around to edit your pics together with the SW soundtrack. It turned out quite neat actually =)

I'm ready to start seeding a torrent holding a high quality version of the clip, but I'd just like to get your final approval on it before I go ahead. Because it is after all your work, and your sn is credited in the clip.

All right, how about this. I'm really bored, and I need something to do for the month before I go to college. If you REALLY want me to, I'll continue Paint Wars, without any whining.

And yes Swe, you may seed that torrent. But where?
