Pink Saber in OOT

Author
Time
I was recently watching a 1992 Pan-n-Scan OOT VHS tape of SW, and when I got to the Vade-Obi duel, Vader's sword was clearly pink! And it wasn't even vibrating either. And you people are complaining about this on the 2004 DVDs when this problem persisted 10 years ago! I don't have a picture to prove it, but if you've got a copy (which you probably do) see for yourself...

The so-called pink saber never bothered me anyway.

C3PX said: Gaffer is like that hot girl in high school that you think you have a chance with even though she is way out of your league because she is sweet and not a stuck up bitch who pretends you don’t exist… then one day you spot her making out with some skinny twerp, only on second glance you realize it is the goth girl who always sits in the back of class; at that moment it dawns on you why she is never seen hanging off the arm of any of the jocks… and you realize, damn, she really is unobtainable after all. Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

But so many other people do complain, so I just thought I'd post this.

Ive never had a problem any of the sabers in the OOT or the sabers in 04 set, I know a few of them were off colour I think, the one in the Falcon in ANH was off colour and the pink one was in Empire i believe as well, it never bothered me when watching them them ones, though I do like the vibrancy of the PT sabers....

There are no pink sabers in the oot. I agree that they aren't very consistent throughout the oot, sometimes the bright core is different and the flicker can be different but they aren't purple. The 2004 sabers are much much worse, sometimes there isn't even a core visible at all and Vader's sabre is really purple sometimes.

The vhs tapes tend to be washed out with the colors faded. A pink saber would blend in better and not look so wrong with those settings much better than it does with over darkened and over saturated colors. The sabers may have always been a little washed out in Star Wars but Vader's was never pink in the sequels.

Vader's saber will always be considered red to me; this pink color is a subtle example of revisionism by Lucas.
It's to represent Anakin's closeted lifestyle.

I always thought the implications of pairing grown men with young boys in a monastic order were very clear. The Jedi are about as closeted as Jodie Foster.

I'm sure that VHS copy you saw was pan and scan as well. So by your logic we should have to put our foot in our mouths if the OOT was released in pan and scan only because we enjoyed it in that format for so many years.

It seem obvious that Lucas has made a gay turn in the last seven years

Well now I have a picture to prove it:

BTW, that's not how it's going to look in Paint Wars...
