Yeah... That's why we're here... We want the original trilogy to get the respect it deserves. And if it does, I think everyone will purchase it for their collection.

Didnt buy it the first time, it is the only Star Wars related product that interests me now and will make me open my wallet to give the franchise any more of my cash. If it isnt released again, I will just stick to the fan DVDs which have given me plenty of enjoyment......

Let us say that the 2006 edition is a one on the scale of one to ten of DVD quality.

If the research shows that the market will bear another release, then the next release will be a three. If somehow another release is possible, then a five/six. Then a seven/eight.

In other words, it would be next to impossible to get the OUT released as a ten. And if my prediction is accurate and the next release is a three, I guess I'll jump through that hoop and buy it too. Or not. I don't know.

I hope I'm wrong, but GL isn't going to make this easy at all.

I didn't buy it before, but if it is released again in anamorphic, I will.

I will sell my 2006 set and re-buy if they do a proper restoration. If it is a slipshod restoration, what's the point of a re-buy? I now have my license to both versions so there isn't much motivation.

I bought the 2006 DVDs, and I will only buy them again if they are anamorphic.

But the OOT is dead to George Lucas, so.....

I never bought the GOUT and unless this is released in a new version made from a brand new telecine I will not be buying another Star Wars film (until the HD releases are out--but i dont plan on buying an HD monitor for a long while).

I bought the 2006 dvds too, and they are okay for what they are, but not the best that Star Wars could be. So, like Mielr, I will buy again but only if it's anamorphic. Also, only if George Lucas relents from being hard-headed about the whole thing and makes it a good release. He needs to release outakes and deleted scenes like other directors/creators do who are truly proud of and want to share their creation. Otherwise, he's just being small-minded and selfish.

I upscaled my GOUT to anamorphic, so it's gotta be more than that to get me to re-buy. It's gotta be a proper restoration of the film I grew up with. If it is, I'll sell my crappy GOUT for the better one. Else, I'll just watch what I have.

Anamorphic and fully restored = Yes

The one good thing anymore is that there is no grey area to a SW release in the future, either it is done right or not. Lucas was able to get away with the 2006 release cause many fans wanted the OOT in any quality on DVD, just as Lucas was able to get away with the SE only in 2004 cause many fans just wanted the OT on DVD.

I will gladly buy the OOT fully restored, and then walk away from SW forever and let the future SW fans debate about midiclorians and jar jar and why Anakin turned.

If its anamorphic yes, but Lucas could easily mess that one up too

It really depends. I won't again on DVD, that's for sure. But when hi-def is the leading video format (like DVD is right now) in all likelyhood I will. But he could f*** up the remastering on that like he did with the 2004 editions, so I'll have to wait and see.

If the fully restored OOT is included in the '07 box set along with the latest SE and PT, I'll still be unsure about purchasing it.

Don't get me wrong I want the dvd's, but I don't like the idea of buying the set which includes 6 discs I don't want for 3 that I do.

If one was to download the version of the movies they want, I don't know if I could say that's a bad thing. I wouldn't do it, I haven't yet, why start now, but how many times must the fans buy these dvd's when often a lot of what you're paying for is superfluous to what you want.

Like Darth Evil said, it's Wait and See.

I will happily spend my money on DVD´s of the OOT which have the level of quality which can be expected from a 21st century DVD release.

If we do get what we want, how shall we complain?

Look at Wizard of Oz on DVD. And this is a 65 year old movie. The original 1937 Robin Hood (released on HD-DVD now in gorgeous quality). 30 years is not too much, there are movies MUCH older and MUCH less popular than Star Wars released on DVD in great quality.

Yeah, I just got the new OZ DVD and it is stunning.

It will be a cold day in hell before I buy the Star Wars 2007 Anniversary DVD set (unless it contains the remastered/anamorphic OOT -which it won't- and even then I'd still sell Episodes I-III on eBay!)

Sadly, you're probably right. Still, maybe we'll see it someday.

If it comes out in higher quality, sure. I'll use the money I saved by never buying any edition of the SE.

We are almost five months to the 30th anniversary and still no news about the "saga" boxset, I have a bad feeling about this...
