WOW!!!

The Greedo sequence was how it should have been fixed to in '97.

And were the Stormtroopers marching to the Meco song on purpose? Haha!

WOW! Are you kidding me???? Amazing work, love all of the eyes in the Cantina Seq, c3po coming out of the garage, that first blast on the tantive - I'm very very impressed. This could possibly become the most talked about fan cut ever. Seriously. Again, stunning stuff. Makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with Lucas (yet again)

This is torture hearing about this clip. I couldn't donate money because I don't have an income and it sucks ass sometimes. Ah well, hope the clip was truly amazing for those who got to see it.

Dude! Adywan, you never ever cease to amaze.

I love everything, but the cantina is INCREDIBLE!!!!! The amount of authenticity this adds to the scene is just staggering! For the first time, it actually feels real, instead of like a bunch of guys sitting in a room with masks on. Just a little tweak of the eyes and mouth adds SO much....wow.............especially Greedo! Very, very impressive.

I'd like to know about the process you used to accomplish this. Was it difficult or relatively easy?

I wonder if the same effect could be applied to the Neimoidians in an Episode I edit.

It was done by using the "mesh warp" filter in adobe after effects and by using seperate masks and layers. its was pretty difficult to get it right because of their movement but once i got use to it is wasn't too bad. i'm glad you like the clip.

It is %100 your decision and you have every right to distribute the clip to whomever you want but IMO it’s a bit inane to only give this clip out to certain people because eventually it’s going to be seen by anyone who wants for free, once the edit is complete. I’m not complaining or saying you should dish it out to everyone I just think it’s kinda silly. I know I would be speaking for others too but I really don't see the donators getting up in arms about you sharing a clip either.

Hi AdyWan - many thanks for your clip! I must say I was sceptical (highly so!) when I read you'd added facial movements to many of the cantina creatires, but I have to say you've done a class A1 job! I'm sure if you showed this to Lucas he'd slap his forehead, say "why didn't I do that" and give you a job straight away - haha! Well... we should all be so lucky! I simply cannot wait for the full release. That shot of the star destroyers by the death star also made me gasp - amazing stuff! Can't wait to see this on my projector! Any shots which help sell how HUGE the Death Star is can only help the film.

I'm wondering if a few more shots in the trench battle at the end could show the huge scale of this thing? Perhaps in a few more shots show burning debris of crashed Rebel and Imperial ships from previous shots? Just to help show once they crash into the Death Stars surface they don't just disappear? Maybe some twisted wreckage? Just a thought to add to the realism of your project. Sure hope this will be a DVD-9 release as well - it will surely be worth the download time.

Any more donations don't hesitate to ask!

Cheers,

- John

P.S. Also had an idea for the end of Jedi (I know this is far into the future for you but it might be of interest). I was always disappointed and unsold with the huge star destroyer crashing into the Death Star IIs surface from just one crashed ship. How about as Vader is 'awakening' from his evil slumber he silently raises his gloved hand after yelling at Luke "now GO! Leave me!" and - using the force - makes the Imperial Commander pilot the super star destroyer into the heart of the death star? Thereby saving the Rebels in the end? I'm sure with some re-editing and only one or two CGI tweaks this could be accomplished. The would have alot of emotional resonance and really sell the idea that Vader has totally redeemed himself? Also a nice symmetry to it as well - Luke destroys the first Death Star, Vader destroys the second. Just though this has the potential to work nicely and make for a more dramatic ending to the saga.

The end battle is going to get the full treatment. I'm going to be filming some new model shots for background ships to give the battle more scope. So expect a larger and longer battle.

Hi Adywan

Some suggestions for scene modifications.....if you havent already considered them....

Id be tempted just to remove this shot altogether it just looks fake and pulls you out of the Star Wars universe!

Please Please Please remove this flying thing in the background, ever since it was put into the film in 04 it has distracted me from whats actually going on in the scene, its not necessary and I would pay to have it taken out of the film!!

How are you planning on handling this "comedy" scene??

I'm keeping this shot in. i've done a bit of tweaking to it. i've balanced the shadows to remove the green tint to the speeder and a few other objects and removed the creatures that are on the left side of the frame completely.

thats already gone. its back to how it was originally now

I was going to redo this scene but i noticed that it actually takes place outside the cantina so i have taken this scene out of my edit.

Maybe its the odd coloured sand theyve used or something but it just doesnt "feel" right IMHO. I guess if it was more sand like and less mottled effect it could look better....

Great work on all the other bits by the way.

Amazing work, Adywan. What you did with the cantina aliens reminds me of what the Star Trek Remastered people did with the Gorn (but they were way too conservative with it IMO; they gave him eyelids but he only blinked 4 times!). I can't remember if you've mentioned this before, but will you be doing anything about Walrusman's severed arm? Removing the blood and/or making his hand match the longshots?

And the grey planet is defintely a better fit for the Death Star than the blue one; great sequence.

Keep up the great work!

yeh i'm going to replace the hand with the correct one and i have removed the blood and put a small heat glow on the wound. I've just got to build a new hand so i can add it into the shot first

Have you talked to 2-1B? He's got some experience in that sort of thing.

Actually, the rough cut version might be useful to you as it has the shot with the correct hand. Deleted Magic has the shot in a usable size.

Hmm, I have to say i'm a little annoyed that i was out of town a lot and unaware of the 'donations'. Are you still taking? I'm happy to kick in some $$ on a project like this regardless but I'd also love to see the 'sneak peek' you've got...

Thank you for sending me the video, its an amazing amount of work you are putting into this edit, this is really the Star Wars fan edit to end all Star Wars fan edits and I cant wait to try and get hold of this when you have finished

The problem with the SE "journey into Mos Eisley" scenes, particularly that one approach shot, is that there isn't enough sand and dust being blown around like we see everywhere else in the original film. Is there any way to correct this at the editing stage?

Also, I know that they just smeared vaseline on the camera lens whilst filming the speeder moving in '77 (with some corrections for the SE), but I really liked this effect, like there's some kind of shimmery mcguffin power keeping the speeder floating. Surely this could be duplicated for the approach shot?

As others have said: I'm very excited by this edit, and I can't wait to see the whole thing.
I am NOT a committee!

It is inane for you to tell the guy that his idea for sharing a clip to whomever he chooses is "silly". I find it silly that you can't be patient and had to complain about the situation. And yes, you are complaining.

You don't see us petitioning Adywan to make the clip available to everyone either, do you? It's interesting how you've interpreted our lack of comments on the matter.

I didnt ask for the clip and I said its his choice, I can wait til late Dec.

Actually complaining would be... why didn’t you give it to us why haven’t you shared it with the rest can I get it why cant I get it. I was trying to make an observation about the situation but if you have to call it something else be my guest.

I thought most would be mature enough not care about a short clip being available to everyone....proved me wrong
