So what does this price drop tell us? IMO one of three things: 1) retailers had a hard time moving them and have a lot left over or 2) they sold so well that retailers know this lower price will be an even bigger smash and/or 3) there is something MUCH bigger in the works for '07 and once that drops, these won't move at all. Yes, the sales pitch from day one was "Dec. 31st they will be GONE!" But will retailers really pull the ones that didn't sell off of their shelves? I highly doubt it...

The problem is that this is basically the 3rd DVD release of Star Wars- the '04 DVD set with bonus disc, the '05 DVD set without bonus disc but new case, and the '06 GOUT. They've gone to the well too many times, IMHO. They've sold the discs to the collectors, SE fans, and now O-OT fans, as well as the people who "sorta like" Star Wars, so now have to get them cheap enough to sell to people who are only mildly interested in them to buy them.
