I don't know. It satisfied me, although I still would hope we can get an anamorphic release.

Maybe he just wanted to test the waters before sinking a whole lot of money into the endeavor. To see just how much demand the older versions really had.

Maybe the numbers on this release determine whether or not he does more with it for the next release.

What better way to celebrate 30 years of Star Wars than by releasing newly restored versions of the original trilogy?
