Thanks for the advice. After some wrestling, I finally got this to work! I used the flag-adding tool in TMPGE. I also synched the sound for reel #1, and to my delight there was no audio drift after pulldown. The great thing about doing it this way, is that all four reels should fit on a DVD, even with average bitrate of 6000.
One down, three to go!
